    railroad sound again..

i had the "railroad" sound before on my rear passenger side wheel and had to replace the hub assembly.

now i'm getting the same problem again, except i'm not sure if its the front passenger or the rear passenger but i can hear the railroad sound (not exactly the same as before) especially when i am going on a semi sharp ramp with the car turning right.

does anyone know why this problem is back?

its kind of like the pulsating sound reminiscent of that made by the old school locomotive... like dud-dud-dud-dud-dud...

sounds like its the front hub wheel bearings, my 98 LE did that and it sounded excatly the way you are portraying it. you may want to get them checked/replaced before serious damage occurs.

Its kinda pricey to replace. Be prepared to shell out a pretty penny.

yeah im expecting at least 150$.... it seems like my wheel hub assemblies are taking their turn to be replaced.

what causes them to go bad? is it because i like to whip my car into turns?

yeah its the wheel bearings and the inner tie rod they said..if i heard it correctly. so they have to do an alignment as well...its pretty pricey with everything including labor and my synthetic oil change

I would figure most places would do the alignment for $25.00 or just do it for free since you're doing your wheel bearings :)

Well for bearings I don't think you can get them new anymore. They're remanufactured with the bearing packed inside. I would have to say a couple hundred dollars for one side. My friend had his driver's side replaced on his Camry for 300 or so.

i got all four replaced with new ones from the dealer in september 06' but i ran me 700 for the total cost and labor.

i did the two front one and rear passenger side so far....... i guess the next one to go is the driver side rear but i thought bearings were supposed to last the life of the car

that may be true but altering the suspension only increases wear and tear over time. lowering does not help any unless you have a camber adjustment done to the vehicle but even then there is no guarantee. i never really had any problems with mine until i slapped the 18's on and then i lowered the thing then my rear bearing went out then two months later the front started to have problems, the 700 is what I paid for the total cost for all four. modifying a vehicle will cause faster wear depending on the part/component.
