    LED interior

I swapped out all the LED's in inside that I could figure out. I was not able to figure out the damn A/C button, despite all the forums. I also swapped out my ash tray light and my ignition light, which you can vaguely see in some of the overall shots. I know there are a lot of forums here dedicated to this conversion, so here is an overall of what it can all look like, enjoy! (Sorry about the image quality).

If you get red LEDs instead of bulbs they'll remain actually red....
atleast thats what i've heard havent tried it personally yet... will do in a few weeks

yup, buy LEDs. can't encourage that enough. everyone who gets in your car will like it. I wish I had used hyper white LEDs instead of blue, but I'll live. LEDs remain the same color from day 1 until you sell the car. If your cig lighter ring doesn't light up now, there's probably no bulb, but you could splice off something else, ashtray for example. If I remember correctly that is an odd size bulb, so I had to use a universal LED light. It's just an LED with a resistor in-line. I zip tied it into the socket so it won't come loose, no problems yet.

    http://autolumination.com/

thats where im getting mine... you'll be able to change your gauge and most of your temp controls using 194 and 74 wedge LEDs this way there basically NO hassel..
(check out autoluminations matrix leds #194s hold 5 leds making them hella bright and a huge lighting area. kinda expensive at $6.99each but i think its reallly worth the money)
other bulbs like the ashtray, ciglighter, and temp control buttons (a/c, etc.) you'll probably have to weld in your own leds

the ac button is definantly a bitch to do. ill take a pic of my setup when i remember but it took me a while to do the AC button and the first time I blew my fuse and never realized the fuse was blown for like 3 weeks and had no AC.
As far as my cig goes, i accidently let some paint get on it when i was painting the pieces around it red so now the light doesnt shine through well! haha oh well though

the A/C controls are LED's as in actual LED's not LED BULBS. so you need to replace them with LED's. in the '01S or equivalent S model (prob LE too) the defog button and circulation button have LED's in them and arent lit from the main bulb that lights the knobs. you have to change these LED's but its pretty easy, just get 3mm LED's in the color you want (no bigger than 3mm!!!) and then cut out the LED in there and solder these in. To make sure u know the right direction just look in the LED, one end has a smaller thing and one end a bigger thing inside, just match that with the LED you have and your good to gooo

Cut the top off the LED with a dremel so that it's flat and will dispurse the light better. Also, you'll want to make sure you don't have the LED stick out too far that you hit it when pressing the AC button in.

It's not that hard to do, honestly. The shifter was the biggest pain, cause all the advice I got isn't really very accurate. You will need:
    3 194/168 bulbs (gauges)
5 74 bulbs : climate controls (2), ashtray, ignition and sifter
2 universal Leds (I used leds with resistors inline, autolumination calls them snakelights or something) I used one for the cig lighter and one for the rear defrost

The 74 bulbs I used had a flat nose for a wider angle beam. It's at least as good as regular bulbs w/o the fading. They are a hair too long though, but I mashed them in. If you have a specific bulb I have replaced that you can't seem to do, let me know. Most of it has been discussed before.

Nice..thanks. This might be my spring break project, if I find the bulbs locally..how bright is it at night when it's compared to the stock lighting?

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about the shifter. ;)

Anyone have any experience changing the lights in their cluster in 93-97's? I ordered some wide angle bulbs from autolumination.com. Just curious how the wide angle ones compare to the 4 or 6-LED ones that are super bright. The only reason I'm doing this conversion is so the gauge cluster lights won't be so fucking dim.

I had LED in my cluster before. They were f*cking dim. I recommend just get some painted bulbs. Although they will be faded, but it will look much better than a dim cluster.

I got the oval wide angle bulbs for my gauges. You can see the results (sort of). I'd buy the matrix bulbs, but they weren't out yet when I did mine.

Damnit. I already ordered them. Looks like I'll have to go back and buy those 6-led bulbs that are supposed to be super bright.

I changed out a lot of my lights and what ended up taking me the most time is when I lost a few of the bases.

I had to go to the dealership and buy some :( They were 12 bucks each. The litle tiny plastic bases. I was like WAAA. So the guy decided to sell them to me for 5 bucks. Which still sucks.

I would appreciate if anyone knows where to get those bases that the lights fit in.

Also, on the A/C and other buttons, you have to solder them in, but how many volts is going to each one? I want to change those out to blue as well. Pretty easy to get to.

Does anyone know how what bulbs I need for my guage cluster on a 99 corolla and how to replace them? I've heared that some of them there are clips that you need to bend before you can take out the bulbs, any idea?

For illumination ?? # 194 or 168 bulbs. 168s look great. 3 are used, twist sockets to left to remove. (the larger sockets are illumination)

do you just pull the bulbs out of the socket to replace them or do you have to do something else?

Yea, after you removed the socket from the cluster, you just pull the bulb and it will come right off.

okay new question. I just got some 194 bulbs from advance but when they lit up it wasn't that deep blue I was looking for. I went to autolumination.com and they have a bunch of different blue leds that are 194. I've heared that some of them have a problem with not emitting light evenly. Anybody have a suggestion what I need to get instead?
