I think the OEM speakers are 5.25" but the 6.5" can fit. The work isn't that bad. How long did it take you to do the rear speakers?

    i was looking at these
    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rnSpkZ2944I/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?I=500SPR17S
alpine type r spr17s for the rear deck

    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rnSpkZ2944I/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=410&I=500SPR13S
alpine type r spr13s for the front deck

    much more expensive though.

i dont remember how long the rear ones took me...but I think it took less time to do than the front doors.
This time, I will have a pro do it because I started getting a "failure" on my head unit and one of the speakers stopped working....

do you use your factory speaker wires to connect your aftermarket speakers?

I'm still using the factory speaker wires. What kind head unit or receiver do you have?

I've heard Sony Xplod speakers blow out early. Hence why they're named Xplod. LOL

the 5 1/4" inch speakers are sort of small for the fronts.

i only bought the brackets for the 5 1/4 speaker.

the alpine type-r 17s utilizes the factory brackets which i dont have anymore because ive replaced my factory speakers a while ago

i dont have anything installed yet. i received the front alpine type-r 13s so far. the ebay seller couldnt get the type-r 17s because his source was on backorder so i had to buy it from another ebay seller today. hoping to get it later this week.

i'm still debating if i want to install amps and a sub yet. and do i need an equalizer?

On my last car, I got a friend to hook up the subwoofers and equalizer.
I went this route, I just pieced it together slowly.

    speakers >> amp >> receiver >> subs >> equalizer.

Well, Friday the 20th is the first step for me. Since it takes 3-4 hours for the front speakers alone I'll get that done only and the rear speakers another day.

    Friday:
-Install front woofer and custom mount tweeters/crossovers.
    -Dynamat the front doors.

Going for nothing but the best I see? (at least if you went with alpine) 3-4 Hours is kinda long. It must be hard. My front and rear speakers are relatively easy to install, old school FTW.
