    more work bs

so since they changed my schedule i work 37 hours a week from 27 hours a week. and my manager said that i wont qualify for the full-time benefits unless i have been full time for a month or more. so im pretty much saying fuck it and not going to work tomorrow. that place is bull shit i dont have time to work full-time if im going to school full time and they didnt give me saturdays off because they need more help, yet they fired 3 people that could still be working there. fhsfjkhdkgjhfdsghfdghsfdlghfdg

oh and i am probably going to quit tomorrow

Many companies have policies where you have to work a certain amount of time before you can get benefits.

Id just stop your bitching and do something about it. Either quit, or suck it up.

If your manager is following company policy then there isn't much you can do. it kind of makes sense that you have to wait a month to get benefits. Most jobs say you have to be at the place for either 3 months, 6 months or a year before you get benefits and vacation pay. If you've been there for 5 and have to wait 1, then that sounds legit to me.

If you have questions, you can always ask HR about it. But until then, you'll have to deal with it. Look at my job. The president of the credit union wants the whole building to go 24/7. My area doesn't have enough work for 24/7 so they may extend our hours and I and some others may get stuck working either really early or really late. Regardless, I still have to do it because its a job and its paying the bills.

And like dward said...find another job before quitting, you'd be doing yourself a favor. And also read up on the policy about quitting. If you have any leave built up, they won't pay you that if you quit without giving them notice. And if you ever decide to go back to lexus/toyota in the future, they won't be too quick to hire you cause of your past with them. Just be wise about things.

i never asked to be a full time worker, when they hired me i told the manager at the time i could only work part time, than he moved to sales and now i have this new manager who fired 3 people and made me work full time which i cant do because of my school. i dont mind waiting a month for benefit but the fact is i never asked for benefits i dont need the benefits because i got hired on as part time not full time thats what is making me angry about the whole situation and he wont let me negotiate my schedule. HR just told me that he is my manager and makes decisions. also car dealerships around here are individually owned, ex i work for Kuni Lexus, so if i go work for Burt Toyota they are 2 seperate companies so the management will work differently, if that makes sense, i know if they call kuni they wont give me too good of a review because i just quit but i dont care. i will probably find another job but i dont really think i want to right now beause of finals and what not.

I can't see how they just turn around and make you full time without agreeing to that. If you can manage without the pay for a few weeks until you can find something, then give them a week's notice (which is what part-timer's should do) and thats it. If they say they need 2 weeks, you tell them that you were hired as part-time and that you do not agree with full-time hours cause of school.

I'm not sure how it works where you live. But back in NJ, it was against the law to bash an employee when a future employer calls to verify information. And when you go to a new dealership or employer, if they ask if they can contact the current/previous employer, just say no. And if you're with a current employer and a new employer wants to verify, say no because it can jepordize your current job, should you not get this one.

And I get what you mean about the dealerships being individually owned.

yeah i didnt agree to it, and the HR at my company doesnt care. basically what he did when he got promoted was fire 3 people than make all the part times full-times

i dont mind working 9-6 mon-wed-fri but he wouldnt give me sat off to keep my pt schedule.

and yeah i forgot they always ask if they could contact your previous employer, i always say no anyway. and i think ill go in wed and just tell him im out of there, besides i had stuff to do today so i wouldve requested the day off anyway

this is their blogging and internet chat policy btw
    # No blogging or internet chatting during working hours.
    # You may not use company computers (or other company provided devices) to blog or internet chat.
    # No postings that discuss, directly or indirectly, the company’s, past, present or future business, employees, or customers.
    # No postings that include proprietary information, company or manufacturer logos or products.
    # Unless specifically instructed, you are not authorized to blog or chat on behalf of the company and, therefore, must not do so.

so its pretty much saying i cant post lexus logos anywhere i mean i dont talk about the company i just thought i should post that because i dont agree with it and havent signed off on it yet. i can liv without internet chat during work hours, but what if i really like lexus and want to post lexus pictures all over my myspace or facebook?

i dont know how toyota/lexus do their policies BUT where i work from what you put in your availability is what they should honor. i am kinda in a similar situation because i my old manager quit. what we were told is (and i agree to it) that when there is a managerial change, it is certain that someone's getting hurt. PERIOD. all i do is try to get a feel on how the new manager does the work.

imo: getting your head hot and arguing is not the best thing to do. calm down. talk to someone (preferably someone higher or the HR) and get everything straight. but i still stand that they should give you what you asked for in day 1.
