Ive been out of the car audio game for so long, Ive forgotten some of the technical stuff in regards to subs and amps.

Im giving my cousin an Audiobahn sub.....its listed at 400watts RMS. 2 or 8 ohms usage.......Im not too sure of the peak wattage. Its a dual cone I believe. (He called asking for specs, and I grabbed it off the shelf that its been sitting on for 2 or 3 years and scanned the side of the box real quick)

    91db sensitivity
    400Watts RMS

What amp should he be looking at. Hes been eyeing this alpine:

Its a mono amp....400 watt RMS at 2ohm
    600 watt peak output.

Hes going to be running one 12 inch, in a durango. What do you all recommend for amps? Whats the difference technically between the mono and 2 channel amps. He wont need a multi channel amp.

the alpine amp your cousin is eyeing for would be just fine for the sub you gave him. correction, its not double cone, its dual voice coil. by connecting your sub's terminal parallel will make it 2 ohms which is just right for the amp 2 ohms capability and being mono. looking forward to hearing you saying it sounds great.
