what can i say, when people stereotype it only hurts them more so than the other person/ people. shows how little they know of them. im going to stop at that.

Well I know what you're talking about since I am very educated on stereotyping, racism, discrimination and such through taking a load ethnic studies classes in my college(I was going to minor in it). Those who stereotype and discriminate push others down and push themselves up. And when there's internal conflict within the group it pushes them further down and pushes the discriminating group up yet again. But there are some things that you cannot deny. Stereotypes are based on truth even though it may not describe them all. It becomes a stereotype when an offense is repeated over and over again to reinforce that negative thought until it becomes permanent. I don't want to offend anyone but the majority of crimes here in California are Hispanic related. My buddy just recently got his house robbed where the suspects ran to Mexico to escape the authorities. I'm not trying to jump to conclusions but its very likely. Actually scratch Hispanic. It's mostly Mexican related. I'm just venting from all the illegal immigration. It could have been anybody. Sorry about all the fuss. Carry on.

I was considering picking up a Civic hatch just because it's so light and so many good engines will fit in it. They're all pretty old cars now, but is a nicely modded civic hatch as likely to be stolen as as Typpe Rs, GSRs and the Civic Si?

civics - ANY year, ANY model - are constantly stolen. most people never get them back, or the vehicle's found with very little left. IF you go this route, insure everything on it - report everything and keep full records of everything, down to the receipts/work orders. don't keep anything in the car, either. insurance companies won't insure anything that isn't bolted down.

oh, and find a good garage in which you can keep it at night, and make sure said garage is protected with a good security system.

If they know you have something worth stealing then yes it'll likely get stolen. I know 3 different ways to easily break into a EG, EK or DC and I dont even jack cars for a living. ITR, GSR, and SI get stolen usually for the motor, tranny and interior. If you build up your hatch, you'd likely put in these desirable parts (B/K series motor, recaro interior, etc) and if you show off enough on forums, car shows, etc. theives would find out, stalk you and steal your car.. sometimes even out of your own garage.
