what if the guy is very pastey.. sometimes a tan is necessary. Just probably not in public.

well i tan, but i dont go to tanning booths. i sit on the roof or backyard....nothing wrong with it but your neighbors might freak out if you are nekked

I've been tanning in a booth right before my wedding to get some color to me. And when I go on vacation to the beach, I like to sit out in the sun. I sat out in the sun on my honeymoon and got darker then chris rock..lol. I just can't take it when it gets too hot.

The only men I know who purposefully tan(go to a tanning salon/lay out in the sun) are gay....or are pink shirt wearing "Lee Hotti" type D-bags.

I suppose for a wedding though, it might not be too bad. Especially if you aren't wearing a traditional white shirt but opt instead for a color. In pics, a white shirt will make almost any whitey look tan.

i do it because i am from hawaii and when during school here i get really white and its embarassing to be so white when i go back to hawaii

from the female perspective...i think *anyone* should get a base tan before going to a climate that's significantly warmer/sunnier than home. it's just safer for the skin, overall - it's too easy to burn when you're not used to it.

I don't personally think its gay. There are just some guys who like to keep up with their tan. When I went tanning before the wedding, the lady told me that the majority of the clients were male. Alot of people don't have the time to go to the beach and chill or go to the backyard and tan. So the other alternative is the tanning bed. 12-15min max and your done.

Getting a base tan is a smart idea by anyone who has sensitive skin. About 4 years ago I went to Sandy Point Park and I stayed in the sun all day. I didn't use lotion or get a base tan before I went (last moment thing) and by the end of the day I was blistered up and got sun poisioning. From then on, I will never go out in the sun without a base tan or without sun block.

Even with tanning beds, you have to be careful not to burn. One bed I used had brand new bulbs and i wasn't told. Came out looking like a lobster..lol. Only hurt for a day but it went away..ever since that time, I always asked if the bed had new bulbs..lol.

I dont think its gay...but I dont tan cuz im asian and am already naturally tan, lol..

I used to spend 8+ hours a day at the airport loading/unloading Fedex planes. Even with SPF 30 I still got dark...very dark.(proof you can tan through sunblock, some swear you can't)
I haven't worked there since 2002....and I stil have some faint tanlines on my ankles from my socks/shoes. I don't know if I'll ever go back to 100% cracka white again.

i seem to have taken after my dad primarily, so the native american shows in my quite a bit and i tan like mother f**ker. i also work outside in the sun, in vegas, so i get my fair share and a bed isnt really necesary aside from my farmers tan lines. but i dont care all that much.

i think the only thing that would make a man tanning "gay" is if the guy was gay. i mean tanning is bad for you no matter what... but what the hell. if it makes you feel better about yourself then go for it, they are worse things you could be doing to yourself to try to look better.
