    New Camera

I got a new camera. Its a black Casio Exilim S770. Its just a simple 7.2MP point and shoot camera. Its super small and super slim too. Its about the size of a credit card and the width of my finger.

I went to Downtown to test out what I could make it do, hopefully walking away with some high quality pictures. I was messing with its settings the whole time, plus these were taken at night, plus these are pictures without a tripod with just me sitting in my car stopping when I saw an opportunistic picture (thats why some of the picture angles are a bit unusual, i.e. not being able to get the whole building in the shot), so some of the pictures might look a little weak in quality but im still tryin to figure this thing out...its no SLR but im happy with it...all the pictures are underexposed except the second one which was taken directly under a light post...and auto focus is a b*tch as you can see...

Had to resize these pictures too...

    This is Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma

The video mode is crisp for not being an actual camcorder. It records videos at 30 fps so there's no lag in the picture. As long as your recording video during the day, the picture is perfect but if its at night, you get those weird color spots. Another thing about this camera is that if you leave all the settings on automatic, then you wont get the best picture all the time. I think they wanted the user to adjust the settings themselves cuz each time I do, i get great pictures. BUt automatic settings are still great. The picture resolution is enormous and probably wouldve taken up all of the forums bandwidth, lol. 3072x2304 is the max resolution. The zoom is okay but being only 3x zoom, I didnt expect much, plus it still has digital zoom passed 3x. It takes pictures at 7.2mp. Oh yea, this thing takes SD memory cards and those cards are pretty cheap cuz I got a 2gb card for $30. On this 2gb card, I can store 500+ pictures on it at 7.2mp and record well over an hour of video. Even better, I can take 1024 pictures of 5mp quality. The camera also comes with a docking cradle which allows you to easily transfer pictures from the camera to the computer and also allows you a place to recharge the included battery pack. All and all, this is probably one of the best $300 i've spent in a long time.

If anyone was interested in buying a camera like mine, I recommend it, but I also strongly recommend you go to the Exilim site cuz my S770 isnt the best Exilim that Casio has. One of the main reasons I got this one was because its small and compact and you get every bit of your money's worth in every picture. I wanted an SLR but those are too expensive. Anyways, here's that site:

Yup, that building is all clear glass. It was the William's Corp. building but they went bankrupt so the city is talking about moving its offices into that building. We're also building an 18,000 seat Arena called the BOK Arena which will be glass encased too. Tulsa has been setting a lot of its focus projects into downtown and the river lately.

Nikon is the kind my cousin's friend has. It takes really good pictures and is user friendly from what my cousin has told me.

My engagement pics and wedding pics were all taken with a Nikon SLR. My wife's uncle also used a Nikon SLR. Those pics are amazing! Especially if the person using the camera knows what they're doing. I messed with a SLR one time and it took crazy shots. And it was only 8MP.

Although SLR's are great, it is bulky and you can't take it everywhere you go, comfortably. Only useful to a photographer who is serious about their work. For a pocket sized camera that Casio is nice though. I have 2 Fuji's and both have worked well for me. Another group that we work with has a SLR and their pics are good. But I think they can be better with the right person behind the camera. That group just hires whoever to do camera shots and not all the pics are great.

Cannon's make good cameras. so do Fuji's and Nikons. I just recently was able to get a hold of a Sony but the only thing I didn't like about it was the material it was made out of. if felt like if I dropped it once, it would completely shatter. I like cameras that are made with a durable material. I've dropped my camera 2 times and nothing ever happened. Just 2 small scratches and thats it. My sis dropped her Sony once and the lens that extends out managed to get bent in a way that it wouldn't work anymore.

I personally stay away from Sony's. I only mess with Fuji, Cannon, Nikons and by the looks of it, I gotta give Casio a try.

I got a Nikon D40. If your looking to get a Nikon and can afford a few extra hunder dollars, I would go with the D80. I love the D40, but the ONLY thing that I dont like about it is the lack of internal motor to focus the lense. So when you buy new lenses, they have to have the motor built in, or they wont autofocus. If you want to keep the price down and have the internal motor, look for the D70s or D50
