    tickets from other states?

i know we have some cops on this board, so i have an question.

    example situation:
say i live in a state that only has one 1 plate required and i travel to another state to visit family or for fun. can i get a ticket for having no front plate.

    another example:
say tint is allowed on the front windows and i travel to a state that doesn't allow tint on the front windows, can i get a ticket for having tint?

I was once pulled over at Houston (by the undercover drug cops, according to them) because I had one of those green neon things for your license plate.

Well, lemme tell ya, I was there to visit my ex who was there for the summer and that me and my friends had just got a hotel at sometime around midnight so I thought id find someplace to get some eats. When I was pulled over, he thought I was suspicious because I was from a Oklahoma driving around in the middle of the night. He said he thought I was either trying to deal drugs or smuggle illegals. He along with like four other officers searched my car like a mutha. He got extremely suspicious when he opened up my trunk and found a bunch of shopping bags full of groceries (especially when he saw some flour, because we were gonna antique the first person who fell asleep). We hadnt unloaded the groceries out yet.

Anyways, after he searched my car, he let me go because he said since I was from another state and wasnt sure about the legalities of my neon license plate thing in my state, that they couldnt really do anything it. I would figure they couldnt enforce another state's law anyways....needless to say, that was one night I will never forget. (Note to self: undercover drug cops are highly trained to get you to say the wrong thing and try to change your story that you told them, on you)

EDIT: oh yea, he was extremely suspicious at this thing I rigged up for my sub amplifer. It was funny cuz I ran a tube from my drivers side floor vent air-conditioner, up the C-pillar and to the back in my trunk so I could keep my amp cool since it had a tendency to overheat. That thing never overheated either...but I believe it blew a fuse a few weeks after we got back. I only had the tube on for the trip and took it off soon thereafter. Haha, those were the good ole ricer days but that idea was awesome...

On your tint, I wouldn't ticket you, but I've heard otherwise for California. As far as no front plate -- if you're only given one plate, I don't see how you could get cited for it.

Usually they will let you off the hook because your just passing by their state. You should really have no problem if you let them know that your just traveling and didnt realize that it was illegal in such state. If he does ticket you then would you be willing to drive back to that state to fight it in court? Would be cheaper just to pay the fine lol.

yes, you can be ticked for tint. You live in a state where they allow darker tints, and you drive to a state say california where you arnt allowed tint on the front. you CAN be ticketed for it. Just becasue you are from out of state doesnt mean you are immune to the laws there.

However, as far as a front licence plate, since your car is not registered in that state, you are not required to have one if your state does not issue them. There is nothing they can do about that.

    its kinda tricky.

If your car is registered in (for example) Arizona and (hypothetically speaking) in Arizona, it's completely legal to tint the front passenger and driver windows...then you drive to California, why the heck would you need to remove your tint before you decide to pass by another state?? Oh and I guess if you were gonna make a crosscountry trip, do you need to look up every automobile law that you must comply with. No, sir. That is because you are not registered with that state so vehicle compliance does not apply unless you are registered there....its just like how my state, Oklahoma, does not have vehicle inspection stickers and why we are not ticketed for it when you travel down to Texas, since they still have those stickers...
