    intake

can a intake be too short what about too big of a outside diameter? if i have too much air coming in then stock and it coming in faster then stock should i adjust the fuel some how? askin cuz i put a 3" OD intake on my 01 corolla the whole intake is about 1 and 1/2 ft long including the 5" filter and it suks. when i stomp on the gas the engine lags almost cuts out then it starts speeding up when i get into highter revs. the oe intake hose is just 2 1/4 should i have stayed with that diameter?

Yes and yes. Correct intake deisgn depends on the cross-sectional area of the pipe which includes its length and diameter. An ideal intake maximize volumetric efficiency at high RPMs and air intake velocity at lower RPMs. An incorrect pipe diameter or length will not maximize engine potential and may even cause you to lose HP/TQ or if it's really retardly design cause drivability issues. Another factor that comes into play is that you have a 01 which uses a MAF sensor attached to the intake charge pipe to calculate correct stoichiometric ratio. MAF sensors requires percise placement to calculate accurately and offten it get gunked up over time. This is probably what's causing you the biggest problem

    My recommendation.
    1. Check and clean the MAF sensor.
    2. If you have a cheap noname intake you might whant to chuck it for someting where the engineers actually did airflow calculations when blueprinting the thing.
