car got broken in to, door is bent out of place

why do people have to be so stupid? i walked out to my car(98 corolla) to grab some cds out of it and i noticed that my door was open. i get to it, my cds are gone, my deck is gone, my storage door(in the center console) was broken and busted out, and my door was bent, it looks like they use a screwdriver to pry my door open and unlock my door from the inside, is there a fix for my door? do i have to get a whole new door or can they bend it back into place? my window isnt cracked, and i dont have power windows mirrors or locks any suggestions would be appreciated. im gonna call my insurance guy in the morning, and the cops just left after taking my statement. =[ shitty

    was it fully insured?

without seeing pictures or a teardown of the door, you'll probably need a new door. next time, don't leave anything in the car...or get tint and a pager alarm.

sounds like amateurs or just some neighborhood kids who just wanted to mess with you...since your car was parked in front of your place, had you had an alarm, it couldve helped out...I know for a fact that my car is a target for a few people in town...good thing I live in a small suburbian town cuz word gets around quick down here...

full insurance, police said there isnt much they can do since they dont have finger prints and ect but i did file a report before posting this last night. my insurance guy came by today and said it was "neglegance" because i an after market radio installed, some how that voids the insurance claim if it is stolen?

some pics...kinda rushed them bcuz it is snowing. sorry they are huge but you can see it better

Negligence? It was locked and you removed the faceplate, correct? That'd be a tough sell...ask for a supervisor...

that just looks like the weatherstripping is borked, which you could easily replace. where is the door bent?

replacing the door shouldn't be all that expensive, either. go to a junkyard and buy a door.

yea I dont buy that negligence bs either. Looks like the dor is bent above te window? Hard to tell cuz those pictures you took are so close up and I need a big screen to view them...but if thats the case, Its probably not something real serious that a body shop could fix...but if its cheaper between the two, a new door at a junk yard would be your next bet. Me and my friend both have All State insurance. His truck was broken into and they took his headunit, cd's, and school books. They didnt say it was negligence but they didnt reimburse him his school books which is kinda understandable. They kinda reimbursed him for his cd's. Anyways, check out All State, you'll be in good hands...cuz thats their stand, lol...

well i talked to the supervisor, said it wasnt negligence but they wont cover it since my car was insured before i got the stereo, which makes sense i guess. no biggie needed an upgrade

that's why you should cover EVERY MOD on the car, if you expect replacement after a break-in. now, did they say they would cover the door replacement?

well that's understandable, since you already said the car didn't have it. at least they're replacing the door (essentially, they're covering what you've paid for them to cover).

now remember, if you're going to modify the car and expect them to cover it, pay the extra insurance. every insurance company offers it.

insurance covers only the vehicle as you insured it. if it doesn't have power windows or locks to begin with, they're not going to just give you a free install of power locks and windows...
