because why? brake fluid doesnt just disappear...

when was your last brake job? you either have a leak or its time for a brake inspection/maintenance.

as ur brakes get low ur fluid level gets lower also, soon has the brake pistons go back in, the fluid rises...

And, when all is said and done...the light was on because he had low brake fluid.
    I'm still (probably) right. :p
If it's not the brake fluid, perhaps it has something to do with the switch on the ebrake.

lemme guess... youre one of those people that will top off the brake fluid until you hear grindiing behind your wheels? i agreed it was because low brake fluid, but you cant tell the guy to just top it off without referencing miles since his last brake service, you think that brake fluid level sensor is there for no reason? that the fluid level it goes off at isnt specified to a very specific level for a specific reason? there is a way things work, and if youre going to offer info then you should probably offer it properly. thats all

i cant find anywhere where JLee said to top off his fluid. All he said was "low brake fluid" no more no less and thats what you had agreed to....just sayin.....onward with the topic...

so you dont think it was assumed... if you had a low tire or low brake fluid and someone mentioned it, would you just smile and stare at the problem? i hope not

and the topic is over until the original poster comes back with more info on the issue at hand. unless of course you folks would like to argue with me on the topic of cause and effect in an automotive sense... or anything else for that matter. start another thread or pm me if you have anything else to say to me, ill be more than happy to set you all straight :)

the poster of this topic asked why his parking brake light was on, he said three words "low brake fluid". The poster hasnt even replied with a "so you think I should just refill it". He didnt tell him how to fix it and it was you who assumed that he should refill it. No one else made a suggestion to that effect. I'm only defending the guy cuz you jumped all over his ass for what seemed like no reason. But its good we have someone here like yourself to fully diagnose and map out a problem. Just remember:

deal... next time ill wait for the poster to ask what to do about the problem.

all i did was try to answer the actual question at hand, not the obvious simple one.

thats like vamp saying "whyd i throw a rod?" and someone answering "because it punctured your engine block..."
    well duh... but WHY?!

maybe my time as a toyota technician and all the time spent diagnosing and fixing problems for everyone that has my phone number got the upper hand here. like i said, next time we can keep it as simple as the question posed

    ;) .

My parking brake light goes on really easily, but I think its because theres a lot of slack. Is there a cable that can be tightened?
