i believe in the possibility of life on other planets...but i don't think they look like really short humanoids with big heads, big black eyes, and grey skin.

i believe without a doubt there is life in other parts of the vast universe... to believe otherwise is just silly. now do they visit us? haha i highly doubt that... but i think i can guess one or two people that believe they do.

I don't know if they have ever been here, but there can't not be other forms of life in the universe.

This better not be another rayray mockery, lol. Newayz, yea why not, I believe there are other beings out there. It would seem like an illogical assumption and waste of space to think we are the only ones in a seemingly infinite universe. And with that, I take it that you may all recall an image called the Hubble Deep Field which was back in 98 when they pointed the Hubble Telescope at some constellation and snapped a picture of multiple other galaxies. And even more recently, in either 2003 or 2004, another image called the Hubble Ultra Deep Field showed even more detail of even more galaxies.....look for yourself....

My science teacher in 7th grade put a huge sheet of black constrution paper on the wall....then he spray painted it with silver paint. He circled one of the dots, and said "this is our solar system", and the entire paper represents the entire universe.

Its ridiculous to say that there isnt other forms of life out there. And yes, Ive met aliens before. :):)

The universe is so unbelievably vast.....that light that we see from some stars has travelled billions of light years is mind boggling. I don't think we're the only lifeforms in the universe. Have aliens actually visited Earth? Statistically is seems highly unlikely, but in a 14 billion year old universe, anything is possible.

because he can create that too.

would it not be more logical to come to the conclusion that one should not think himself too important in the big scheme of things? this seems preferable to doubting the existence of a greater, all powerful entity when nothing suggests otherwise of this existence; rather, it just suggests this entity is greater than we could ever comprehend or imagine.

^^one way or another, we'll prove something to be false. At one point we believed there was an edge to which the earth had and that ships could fall off of it until they realized that the earth was round. Which brings up another interesting question that scientists only theorize about....is the universe infinite. It may seem so if you look at pictures such as those that I have posted above. Hell, who knows, maybe the universe itself holds a spherical shape too and that in a sense, there really is no end, nor is there a universal-atmosphere that we can fly out of (such as our own earth atmosphere). Some people think that the universe does have an end and that end is a barrier in which the universe is surrounded by black holes. Others think the universe has an end but that it's simply too far and that the light at the end of the universe is so distant, that it will never reach our planet in this galaxy's lifetime. But who knows the answer to any of these questions...including the God question; whether god created the universe. Honestly, as much as i've been a Catholic all my life, I think God didn't create the universe. There's just too much scientific explanations behind things of this nature....excuse me now while I do my hail mary's...

no, its actually very very illogical and silly. im content living my life without fear that a non existant man made entitiy will somehow judge me. and im perfectly happy with the thought that someday my eyes will close for the last time and that my person will simply cease to exist. now THAT is logical to me. but at the same time im not against people that need something more in their life, some folks need something more to help them feel secure.

i once dated a catholic girl with a strong catholic family. they are great, awesome, folks. the funny thing is that they are from niagra falls, new york. now if im not mistake the catholic religion estimates history to be around a bout 4000 years? we were all hanging out one day watching a documentary on the falls and the subject of its age came up. the documentary said that the falls took around 12000 years to create! hahahaha i kept a quiet mouth about it as to not stir up the typical fanaticism that religious people show... but it just left me wondering how they could possibly be fooled so completely by the church.

on another note... there is light in that picture above that i bet is 10s of thousands of years old and it is just reaching us. reality and logic are my preference... you can have your religion

That is a very interesting reason to not believe in God; that being the fact that certain religious leaders dated the earth, yet scientific research would date the earth differently. Also, it is very key, in your discussion with me, to not relate the existence of God with organized religion. These two are very different, yet all of your examples refuting the existence of a God seem to combat organized religion.

    Very true, in a way.

well how would you have me state my opinions? i refer to organized religion because they are the ones that take this "god" character and twist and mold their beliefs around their organizations.

i think i see where youre coming from... that there is a god, or an omnipotent being, but organized religion has created a gross misrepresention of said being. good for you.
