    HID Retrofit

Does anyone know any good DIY sites for an HID retrofit?? I have a good idea of how to do it but id feel much better if I could be positive about it. Im planning on this to be one of my spring time projects.

^^amen to that. Plus, I dont think id pay $900 for a retrofit. There are places I kno of that will do it for $500. Heck, theoretically, I can do it myself for the price of the projector, shroud, and ballasts if I really wanted to but, like I said, it would be nice to have a DIY to look at to know what I would be doing would be correct.

Yeah... Paying ~$1000 for HID retro is just robbery if they are using the stock housings. You can do it yourself for pretty cheap if you just take your time. I had a friend do mine in 2 hours from scratch never doing it before, they came out awesome and it only cost me $300 for the HID's, Ballasts and Bulbs. Contact local auto repair shops in your area, when they get wrecked cars they pull the HID's out of the housings and keep them. You can usually buy them off them cheap.

i'd just stick with the HID's themself, IMO, I like to see the light and the convex it fills, and i like clarity, projectors look too small on some and that is the way i feel for the rolla.

before you guys start do diss other ppls work... you should try and do some research about pricing.

you can get projectors retrofitted into your car for under.... 400? if you do it yourself.

reason why im selling mine at that price is because...

they are s2k projectors. try ebaying it and see how much those go for....

    custom machined shroud... 200 bucks

then we have denso sealed ballast... each goes for 150-175.

add those up and youll have a pretty good idea how much the whole set will cost.

thats part of the reason why im gettin out... modding a corolla... nobody is willing to shell out the dough.. ppl ask for bbk to be made... projectors to be made... turbos to be made.... shift kits to be made... etc...

i got it made.... but problem is... no body is willing to shell out the dough to buy the stuff... no wonder it gets harder and harder to make stuff for 93-02 corollas. im not sure about 03 and up... but i spent a lot of time and money trying to produce parts for our years, especially 98-02.

only few ppl that i kno.. that are willing to spend the cash on quality stuff... are... travis... derrick... justin.... and a few others...

he does have a point it comes out to be very expensive to make things for our cars, which is why i've been thinking of getting rid of mine, but i probably won't , but who knows. i just might sooner or later.

    haha, no way
There have been a bunch of people who use stove top range covers and flanges for shrouds. They stand up to the heat without warping and look no different than any other plain shroud. They're pretty much a cosmetic thing anyway..

Post some pics of the lamps front and back so we can get an idea of how well they are built.
