    Weak Radio Signals

I just started to notice that some radio stations in my area are getty pretty weak. I use my van every now and then and i notice that i don't have this problem (in the van). I was just wondering if anybody else notices that the rollas have a weak radio signal. Is it the atenna or the actual tunner of the stock HU?

I noticed the same thing when I took delivery of my Corolla. I changed to a longer antenna (about 3 inches longer than original Corolla antenna) and that seems to have made for better reception. I don't think the whip style antennas (VWFuba-style) really work that well. The internal (glass embedded) diversity antennas in my BMW and Audi seem to work better than my Corolla or VW...

It could also mean that the gain in your tuner is not adjusted well, or the antenna amplifier is on the way out... the tuner mechanism could also just suck...

And what's with the lack of equalization in volume between CD's and the radio? CD's seem so much louder and vice-versa...

well when i had my old 99 rolla i had an after market pineer premier deck, and noticed that cd's played louder than the radio as well, so i don't know if thats such an issue. But maybe i should look into a longer antenna, good suggestion bimmernut.

Although the shorter antennas (s2000 and the like) look much cooler... do you really need to listen to the radio at all? :D
