try applying for healthy families? it's kaiser and also for kids, they could be $8 a month or $15 depending on your income. As long as you never had insurance for 3 months from an employer...depending where you are of course. In california, that's how it is, so i did that with my son just recently...and i was paying $350 before knowing about that program. so now, it's just my husband and i that are under his employer. and it's about $125 a month.
