    Shortening Stock Stick Shift.....

i read somewhere on here about a couple of people who cut down some of the length in the stock shifter.

is this easy to do? i would REALLY love to do this as the stock shifter is wayyy too long, i dont really want a quick shifter, just take a couple inches of the stock shifter.

if anyone has or can make a DIY ill do anything!!!!

    :D :D :D :D

Well, it will be shorter, but based on some pulley stuff, it will be harder to shift because its shorter. You can try it, but i think it will be much heavier. Maybe you should just wait for the short shifter..

based on leverage it will be the tinnnniest bit harder to shift, but there would be less throw in shifting, which would technically mean faster shifting. im not into the whole going crazy modding car thing but the stock shifter is just a tad too long, looks like im a truck driver compared to my brothers GTI :p

DIY pllllease, if not DIY where would i go to make a crazy request to have this done professionaly?

its real easy to do i did it, just used a hack saw took me about 4 mins, but i had to buy a new shift knob that clamped on, it feels MUCH more sporty and it looks SOO much better, i know its not a "true" short shifter, but to be honest w/ u it really is faster and it uses much less energy w/ the shorter throws, just the feel alone is worth it and its basically free, because the stock knobs stink so get a new shift knob and get a free "short shifter" its really worth it
