    Right Setup for Me?

Well guys, all I want to do is replace my HU and the rear 6x9s, and posibly the front 6.5's if needed. I dont plan on getting any subs or amps for my system, I just want to keep it cheap and simple.

I have pretty much made up my mind on the speakers. I want to get these Infinity Kappa 693.5i Speakers:

    http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...0&c=10&g=52300&I=1086935I&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y
(dont worry about the price, I plan to get them from a much cheaper place)

So if anyone has any experience with these please feel free to leave your opinion on them. Even if you dont have any experience please let me know your opinion of these speaker. If you think there is a better speaker for the setup I want to run, please give me any sudgestions.

Im also looking at the Alpine CDA-9830 CD/MP3 player:

    http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...&c=3&g=62700&I=500CDA9830&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y

I havnt made a final decision to get this HU yet, and this is mostly where I need you guys to help me make a good decision. As I said before, I dont plan to get any amps or subs, so all this HU has to do is power front speakers and the rear 6x9 Infinity's that I want. Do you guys think 18 watts RMS is enough?. Im not looking for ear shattering bass or anything real loud, just something to give a little more thump then the stock setup. I dont need tons of power, just enough to give me some good sounding music. Some other HU's have 25 and 22 watt RMS's so do you guys think there will be that big of a diffrence between say 22 and 18?

If you have any other good HU's to recommend that is the same price as this Alpine or lower please feel free. The other HU I have been looking at is the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X579: http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...&c=3&g=62700&I=113KDCX579&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y But I was leaning more toward the Alpine because I know many people choose this brand and they're stuff is good quality, and I also think it looks better then the kenwood.

    Thanks in advance

Alpine and Kenwood are good choice. Alpine is XM ready, and has some features that Kenwood doesn't have. Kenwood is Sirius ready, and has a different panel from Apline.

Pick the one that looks better for you.

I had Infinity Kappa speakers running off deck before. It was certainly better from the stock speaks, but the high was too harsh to the ears. After adding an amplifier, the sound was much richer, and smoother.

I strongly recommand to get the amplier with any setup. It doesn't have to be a very expensive one. You'll be able to notice the difference.

Again, when it comes to audio, it all depends on your taste and budget.

imo u only have to replace ur head unit
and put seperates in the front/ mid and tweets
keep the back spkr.... so the power in ur hu will not be robbed fully and overheat=) just my opinion..... i did this to a lot of my past cars.. it worked out fine=) i usually use mb quart by the way... being an old fart and all lol....its cheap too

the back by the time i replaced it i used kickers =)

i just made sure all the speakers are low in watts !!!!!! u know the rms coz there is no external amp added=)

    you will need an amp

you will need an amp to push the infinity because they need power

pointless buying speakers that you will not be able to use for their full potential

I was thinking about this setup because my friend has the same setup, But a JVC hu, no amp and the infinitys still sound nice. I dont want anything real loud so thats why i wasnt gona go with an amp. Do you think the HU will over heat trying to power those infinitys? Since the hu is only like 18 watts RMS and the speakers are like 2-115 watts RMS. I never thought about overheating the hu this way.

Wouldnt an aftermarket hu thats putting out more power then the stock hu end up blowing the stock speakers? On the bottom of the stock 6x9's it says like 17.5 watts or something and most aftermarket hu's are like 18-25 watts RMS.

I think im gona end up going with the Alpine HU and the Infinity 6x9s for the rear and just keep the stock fronts. I dont think it will be bad because my friend basicly has the same setup, aftermarked HU, no amp, and those infinity speakers. If it dosnt end up sounding good I might have to get some front speakers and a small amp I guess.

But thanks for the replys guys, its been so long since i posted this topic that i didnt think anyone would respond.

i doubt u'll blow the stock with the hu... those mosfet rms watts is mostly over rated
just adjust ur base accordingly and put most of the fade on ur new component front=)

u wont lose anything if u do the fronts first... u'll hear the difference... btw did u know those front spk really suck ?lol that is why i keep saying replace the fronts first with component seperates lol and don't get the paper ones coz our door sucks the water lol

if not satisfied... get a cheepo 25 - 40 watt 2 way for the back... this set up is more for clarity and some umph... even eminem agrees with me in this set up idid
to my other car lol... (integra sedan)

Well i knew the fronts are pretty crappy. Is that why most of the sound comes from the rear or the car? Just cus the fronts really are THAT shitty? Well the reason i was just thinking of doing the 6x9's is because i figured they would give me the best bass and the most overall sound.

But do you think i should find some speakers with lower wattage ratings since im not gona get an amp? Or do you think it would be allright?

    Thanks
