depends on where you get it done. I can get my engine ported and polished for 600 from this guy I know. I know they make the intake and exhaust lobes bigger for optimal combustion. Also the exhaust ports to your headers are increased in size. They use a sysetem where they flow air to the heads and have a little ball floating or different electrical systems determine the percentages of airflow. I'm not sure also but they can have it to where they increase the piston ports so you can get bigger ones in for more displacement. I'm not totally sure if this but porting and polishing is a great way to increase raw horsepower from the engine. Just watch out with the prices from different places.

Depends if your going N/A or forced induction. If you have an F-series head - don't do it, not much to do in there other than some touch-up work on some welds and some leftover flash material. Most people make the intake too smooth - which takes out the "tumble" in the intake charge - actually you'll lose some power. For the price of a P&P - you could have bought a NOS kit.

You might be thinking of shaving down an engine block, increasing compression, thus a few more HP.

thank god i have a 4ag with bolt ons that already exceeds that (109.6whp), and is running lean as well

if you've put that much money and have seen that little gain, someone is pulling your leg

lean GIVES you horsepower.... part of tuning is finding how lean you can run without detonation

you lose power through detonation, but other youre only going to lose power running to rich.... a piston engine runs like ass when to rich

actually in my power mechanics class they were talking about how going extra lean causes the engine to heat up more, making the engine less efficient, and losing power......

    & i'm retarded..... the ae92 isn't running lean, it's running rich..... probably a bad o2 sensor.....
