    headlight question

If i were to remove the cover from the headlight, is there a way to seal it back so that air can not enter and it prevents moisture? If i can achieve this, i have a nice little mod in the works that i think you guys would like :D

    yeah

yeah you can, i blacked out the inside of my headlights. what i did was take a heat gun and melt the glue/tar or whatever it is that holds the headlight together. ill tell you right now it took me almost 12hours to do both headlights. and taking the headlight apart waws hell. the glue, the mess, everything. but here it is like i was saying take the heatgun and melt the edges take a screw driver to take out all the glue/tar by gutting it out. and when you want to reseal it use silcone. its about $2 and you can find it at wal maert in the plumbbing section, youll need to bottles of it.

    one

one more thing, when you reseal it, make sure you seal back every little section with the silcone, cause if not youll get leaks, and moisture will build up. i had to coat it twice. cause the first time youll think all the corners are sealed, and then find out a couple days later you have moisture built up. but its easy to tell where the leak is coming from.

A quick tip is to use toothpicks. When you have a part pulling apart stick the toothpicks in to keep them apart. The epoxy they seal them with has a way of sticking back together before you get the next part done.

As said above, it can be done, but re-sealing it is th ereal hard part. It will never look OEM again, and you may end up breaking the lens in the process. You may want to consider getting a set of the JDM lights, and doing whatever it is to those. It would be a MUCH cheaper test subject.

Or go to your wrecker and get ANY sealed headlight from ANY car you can find and practice on that.

Some people have opened them by warming the whole thing up in the oven as well.

i do it all the time. oven bake it. 200 F, for 10 minutes, take it out push it together, make sure its tight... than bake for another 5 mins only to let all the bubbles melt together.

than take it out and let it cool for about 5 mins than you are done.

ive done about 8 pairs of headlights (16of them) already giving them JDM, A-Spec, and Euro Spec look, and none of them have came back to me to complain about the quality of my work.

So thats how yuu put them back together, but how do you take them apart? With a heat gun, or do you do the oven thing to take them off as well?
