    Bump stops

Should I be hitting the bump stops during regular driving, or only when the springs are extremely compressed (i.e over speedbumps), or never hitting them at all? I have TRD springs installed.

I don't know if I am hitting them I just want to figure out what this damn clicking noise is...it comes from both the front and back and it is very faint. Has anybody here hit their bumpstops and know what it is like?

when i go over speed bumps, i hear a "knock" in the rear suspension. I dont know if its actually hitting the bumpstops, but it could be. I'm riding on Tein S. Techs with stock shocks.

YA!!!! EXACTLY!!! A little knock sound over speedbumps. I get it from both front and back, the front more so. Does anybody know wut the heck it is?? I installed the springs myself and I'm getting just a little paranoid. :(

Ya if you hit your bump stops you should know for sure. You pretty much hit the end of the suspension travle when you hit the stops, so you will most likely feel it hit. It will probably just feel like solid contact, like there is no cushioning left at all, since you just hit the end of your suspension (best way i can describe it). But youll deffinately know when you hit them...

Are we all CERTAIN that the little rubber insulator that sits between the spring and the mount is intac?. If you ever have direct metal-to-metal contact between the spring and its mount, then you will certainly get a knocking/clanking noise.

The noise could also be relared to the anti-roll bar.

It could be the spring hitting itself when it compresses, like one coil comming down onto another, metal on metal contact. I dont think that would be too loud, but i dont know. I know some companys wrap the lower coils in the spring with insulation to stop that sound, maybe thats what your problem is.

Or like CorollaULEV said. Make sure theres some type of insulation between the spring and the mount. Dirt likes to collect on those mounts arround where the spring sits. So maybe you got a bunch of loose or small rocks in there grinding around. dunno just another thought.

Hmm, I gonna take everything apart as soon as I can get the chance. Hopefully nothing is too screwed up. :?
