Bent Rear Axle

Freakin Toyota. Everytime i go to get something done by them it turns in to a bigger problem. So i take my car in for a tire alignment and the woman call me back and is like we were doing your alignment and we found out that your back rear axle was bent. I was like i didn't hit anything and she said well it was at a .4 or something and it's supposed to be at a .27, you must have hit something pretty hard. I dunno it's bull. So i asked how much to fix and she told me 1200$ to replace 300$ to install. Wow. So i guess i should get my insurance to deal with it. Grrrr

So i guess watch out you might bend an axle. Just a little ranting sorry.

WOW thats really fishy. Ask them what exactly would do that. maybe a 2nd opinion as well?

hmmm... even though i'm going to school to be a mechanic i'd advise u NOT to just take their word on that... check it out urself, that torsion beam is fairly thick so u would've noticed hitting something hard enuf to bend it, and if it is bent then try to find a corolla in a junkyard and just swap out the rear axle, shouldn't be that hard to install

yeah i've never hit anything hard enough to bend anything. You think that a bad pot hole could do it? I don't remember hitting any bad ones anyways. Seemed kinda strange to me too. Maybe their equipment was off or something i dunno kinda sucks. I probably won't even do anything about it.

Well as i mentioned above i would recommend at least getting a second opinion on it.
