vvti DO NOT have lift. VVTL-i is the one that have lift.
VVTL-i is only available on the corolla/matrix XRS and celica GTS.
regular corollas and base celicas only have VVT-i .

jeprox is right! vvt-i is the variable valve with intelegence (hope i spelled that right) and the vvtl-i is variable valve time and lift with the intelegence. Vtech is the variable timing with the electronic control. The way i understand it the vvtl has the open lift assingment. The lift controls how long the valves stay open and to control the lift using the cam and computer used to be difficult in theory. Now they have it undercontrol. Just in case you were wondering the amount of lift differs from the control of what valve opens (hence the V in valve). Quite technical stuff. If someone has a different opinion to the contrary hit me up and school me. Always willing to listen to others thoughts on the subject.
