Ticking from engine

    I have a nasty ticking sound coming from the engine when she accelerates and no mechanic can give me a rough idea without ripping apart the engine. Any suggestions?

    Is it only when accelerating? How loud is it?

    I would guess it could be a spun bearing, but that would probably be ticking at all times, even during idle. But that could be why they can't tell what the issue is without a teardown, since that's an internal issue. But that would be the most severe case, hope that's not what you actually have.
