No, it means when you do something ridiculous to your car that makes no sense. Like adding 3 rear spoilers thinking it's perfect for drag racing. I dunno. In reality, everyone has their own definition of it.

I was told that the term "rice rocket" was coined from Harley Davidson owner(s) who would use it to denote a Japanese motorcycle.

Rice is now used to describe something that's ghetto (automobile related).

if it meant hitting on japanese cars... that's an understatement...

rice is way over used now, all domestic compacts and all imports that are modded in any way are considered rice to many.

For me, rice is a term that applies to overly done cars.

Like domestics that have mufflers, rims, off the wall graphics out the wall, etc..
or imports that have weedeater mufflers, off the wall graphics, a 30 foot wing, etc..

it was explained to me waaay back in the day as being called rice because of the way the mufflers sounded as if you had like a paper bag and had some rice in it and shook it the sound it would somewhat make and then it came that people who weren't "ricers" would throw rice at cars as a joke when they saw/heard one that fit the description. This is the southern u.s. region btw, maybe different other places as all myths have their own makings.

when i think of the term "ricer or rice" i always thought it was mocking a car tuner. like hey look at that racer! or look at that ricer! becuase his car would be overdone. for example Led exausts.. or 100 non matching decals of stuff they dont even have in there car. i saw a vtech decal on a nissan once lol
