    Quick maintenance question....

    I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic oil on my car ever since I've owned it and I was thinking on adding MOA for build up, is this a smart thing to do or it doesn't matter? I know it might be a pretty dumb question for some but I'm just curious to know.

    MOA? I'm not familiar with that acronym. You're not having oil burning issues right?

    MOA = Motor Oil Additive.

    There should be no reason you need an MOA running synthetic.

    Thanks Andy, I just knew MOA to help for engine sludge build up. Just wanted to double check cause I don't want to mess up my motor stupidly.

    Well using MOA isn't going to hurt, but Synthetic creates far less sludge in the first place.

    How often are you changing the synthetic?

    About 4-5k.... as of what I understand synthetic shouldn't be changed too often.... correct me if I'm wrong cause I know you're pretty good with all this car chemical stuff lol

    I run synth in my car, 5K changes. Burns 0 oil. Had synthetic in it since 150miles.

    Yeah, 4-5k changes on synthetic are fine. Being the over-zealous person I am, I'd probably be changing it at 4 religiously.

    Having sm in a car that requires sj is totally fine and even recommended because the technology is newer.

    API SJ (on your oil cap), now it's API SM

    I was reading something on wikipedia about oil and its' classifications, kinda stumbled into it. I'll post the link if I run into it again, it's confusing but rather interesting if you understand the lingo.
