Well here in Cali i believe thats legal as long as they are visible through the windshield. I took my front license plate off and have it in my trunk, and i have yet to be pulled over(Knock on wood).

In cali its supposed to be attached to the front of the car. I have several friends who have gotten fix-it tickets for not having their license plates screwed into the front bumper. i guess it also depends on your luck too coz i had my license on my front dash for several months and nothing ever happened. beware

whoa, 49,000 miles in one year?! my car is almost 2 years old and i got only 16,000 miles..thas probably cuz i live on a little rock in the middle of nowhere.

i think they talkin bout the front plates and not necessarily the trunk, but could be the rear bumper or something?

    ....
well down in hawaii, youre supposed to have the front license plate mounted with something designed to hold license plates on the front bumper. and the bottom must be within 12" from the ground. it is not enforced that heavily as long as you dont drive too stupid and act dumb to a cop

When I use to have my Alitma, I didn't have any front plates either. I had so many cops pass by me from every direction and they never stopped me once. I assumed it was legal.

Then I heard from one of my friends that if the police sees no holes for the plates in the front bumper, they will give you a warning or generally won't say anything. If you do have holes for the license plates, then they expect you to have the plates on.

You might want to check the vehicle code for where you live. PA has a section for display of registration plate. It has to be secured to the car. If it's in the window, you can be cited. No sense playing Russian Roulet. Sooner or later you might get caught, like fishing....sometimes you catch one, some times you don't.

Same here in NY, your suppose to have both front & back plates on but I don't have front plate on, it's stuffed in a drawer at home. I did the same thing with last car and never got specifically pulled over for it but got a speeding tix and they asked and I told them I lost it so its not a big deal. I think its a stupid law anyways because other states like FLa. only need 1.
