    Well you know Ksport is an American brand. Might say something about quality and assurance. TEIN would've had no problems I bet. Plus it has EDFC so you can adjust ride height from inside the comfort of your car. I try to only buy Japanese parts or trusted and proved American aftermarket parts.

    OHHH!!! I've been looking at some ksport pics. Some of them have the two threaded collars around the sway bar link assembly. dang it!!! ksport should get their act together with the corolla. or... the next time someone orders ksports, make sure that those collars come with the shock! they're mandatory so that your link assembly doesn't snap and move around. Thanks to me, they're probably going to start throwing them in now. Why did I have to get screwed? <br />

    Ksport controversy...

    OK... some of you have seen my ksports. Yeah, the drop looks cool. yeah, you rub the wheels a few times... but there's that one damn thing stopping you from buying them...

    1. durability
    2. life span of the strut
    3. life span of the spring

    maybe you've scratched off those 3, and were still inclined to buy the ksports like i did. but there was one more problem..

    4. the rear sway bar link assembly!!!!!!!!!!

    "FUDGE!!! THAT LOOKS SHADY! I'm not gonna buy them. I'll just let someone else buy them and see how they like it."

    ----------------------------------

    Well I said screw it to all 4, and I bought them. It wasn't untill after the install, that I realized that #4 is shady. Please see the reference picture below:
    [IMG]

    The picture you see is right after everyhting was put into place losely.
    The final install before the tire was put on and the car was down on the ground, #3 was down locking part A from wiggling. B was at stock height for the sway bar link and tightened with C. #2 was up against #1 for the lock.

    After the car was lowered to the ground for the test spin, you hear... zzzzzip!!! We raise the car again, and see that Part B has moved up. We try to tighten part C a little bit more. We lower the car again, and zzzzzip! part b moves again. my friend and i debated if we should move #2 down like the picture shows. but a few wiggles later #1 would slowly thread itself down. NOT GOOD!

    I did a good 1500 miles with #3 down to part a. and #2 locking #1, part b as tight as possible. part b moved up and down going over driveways.

    then one day i hear zzzzip, and clank! the zip was the sway assy and i thought the clank was just the empty sobe bottles rolling around the floor of my passenger side.

    couple of days ago, i check on my suspension, and i see my sway bar links are gone. that zzzip and clank was the failure of the linkages.

    Here's what i bought. New sway bar links. they look more durable than the oem ones you see in the pic.

    New #2 (threaded collars) #3 will stay in place, #2 will stay up with #1 to lock the hight from moving down, and there will be 2 more collars around part B so they won't move....
    [IMG]
    Here's what I did for the meanwhile until the new collars come in. I removed part A, #3 and B. number 3 is on top of B so that B cannot move up and possibly snap the sway bar linkage. and #2 is up against #1 to lock.

    One more time. I ordered 2 more collars per side so that B does not move and snap the sway bar links.

    I know long and maybe complicated...

    Now you can call me stupid.... (if you want)

    I asked for stiffer spring rates in the rear. $50 each

    current k sport setup for the rear:
    18cm spring height/
    5kg rate

    after the new sway bar links are installed and after the new collars are installed, i will have:

    18cm spring height/
    9kg rate

    the collars are a rip off. ~$50
    the new springs will be $100 includes shipping
    total spent: $147 includes shipping!

    i just like the stiffness... that's all!

    Alrite post up a link of where you got these other parts with part numbers because I plan on buying these coilovers sometime in the future. Also with the new collars...will the height still be adjustable or will you have to adjust the collar to lower/raise it?

    you can buy ksports anywhere. in my situation, i called ksport's tech number and asked for the collars. <br />
    <br />
    <br />
    <br />
    <img src="http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a368/jcrwzr/IMG_4937b.jpg" border="0" alt="" /><br />
    you need a total of 10 collars. 5 for the passenger rear and 5 for the driver side rear. <br />
    <br />
    from top to bottom:<br />
    1st collar: to raise the spring up or down<br />
    2nd collar: to lock the 1st collar from slowly threading itself down or up.<br />
    3rd: goes on top of the sway bar link assembly (part B of the pic )<br />
    4th: goes below the sway bar link assembly and locks it from moving down. you twist collar 3 and 4 together tight and it locks.<br />
    5th: threads down to part A (from the pic above) to keep it from rattling and wiggling around. this one is a diff shape and flared on one side, because a part of this one goes in part A. <br />
    <br />
    unfortunately ksport only packs 3 collars for the corolla...<br />
    1st collar: to raise the spring up or down<br />
    2nd collar: to lock the 1st collar from slowly threading itself down or up.<br />
    3rd: threads down to part A (from the pic above) to keep it from rattling and wiggling around.<br />
    and no matter how tight you tighten part C to hold part B in place, B is still going to move around when you go over a driveway or bump.

    What if you got just a threaded sleeve that fits from Home Depot or something. Cut it to a custom length so nothing can move at all. You would loose the adjustablity of coilovers though Im assuming.

    nah the k sport collars were the way to go. i didn't want to look like a loser going in to my local tuner shop asking for 3" diameter threaded collars laying around..

    also, since i was the test pig (guinnea pig) for the k sports, register your corolla setup over the phone, and while you're on the phone, remember this post and ask them why you don' have 5 threaded collars. afterwards, tell them that there should be an extra two collars and that they are crucial so that it doenst stress the sway bar link. you might get them for free! just a heads up.

    Tein doesnt make them for our cars. I do believe that they do custom work for certain cars. I was also told that they made coilovers for the same chassis for cars in japan and they should work. I confrimed that but I just checked again and I didnt see it on the list anymore.

    EDIT: nvm I found it again. It is only listed in the Tein Japan site. Gonna cost a fortune though...

    liar you're not broke. maybe if you watch this video, you'll whip out your card and buy them next morning.

    as far as the group buy, i was under the impression that the GB was over because the thread was started a long time ago. i just bought the coilovers from ultrarev.com. they were a decent price. the collars were purchased from k sport directly, as well as my new spring rates.

    I'll go to Autobacs (for those in Cali) and get those without paying for shipping. You may just have to wait for 2 weeks max. Worth my wait when I get my Teins soon.

    A little update for all of you guys...

    I bought a set of k-sport nearly 2 months ago and luckily I didn't got a chance to instal them, since it's -37 celcius here and I don't own a garage. The thing that stop me from installing them apart from the weather was the rear sway bar link bracket. Like you mentionned above, you can't have them to work properly without the threaded rings. I decided to contact the guy from who I bought the stuff to know if it was possible to have them shipped. So I sent an e-mail to this guy that was doing the GB here on vvti.net and only 1 day after I got an e-mail back from him that told me to contact Nick from k-sport and that he would take care of everything. I wasn't expecting a lot from him but still I sent him an e-mail an after 5 days of wait this is what I got from him...

    "You are not really missing anything, we just have since changed the design of the actually bracket, I will send you the new parts when I receive some next week. It will be new brackets, and the lock rings on top and bottom of each one."

    Thanks,

    Ksport Suspension Company

    Everything free.... I hope so....

    I'll keep you guys informed as for the "new" desing

    actually the wrx or any strut combo for the wrx will fit our corollas , the spring rate is the custom part. by saying our corolla , i know the same struts are used for 93-01. the wrx counterpart strut bolts right in place of ours. just stiff as hell.

    You mean the strut bolt patterns are the same? That's very interesting.
