    Dumped exhaust on 04

I dumped my exhaust today and it is LOUD. I am waiting for the DC Sports catback exhaust to come out for my car so i thought i would dump it until then. I like the sound exept for the whineyness when vvti kicks in. Anyone else done this to their 03/04?

By "dumping" your exhaust do you mean you removed it post-cat? Thats got to be VERY LOUD. Its not good to drive your car like that for too long as I've been told you can "burn a valve."

Also, VVTi does not kick in. Its ALWAYS on. Unlike VVTL-i

There was a flange right in front of the rear axle, i removed it from there back. When the car starts to pull harder at about 3500-4000 rpms it gets very loud. im getting a catback as soon as the one i want comes out.

make sure the hot exhaust gases arent melting your chassis-there's a reason why the rear axle shoots the hot exhaust OUTSIDE the back AWAY from the chassis and the plastic bumber...

yeah u should check to see if something under there is made of plastic and near the exhaust before it's too late! also, you could get pulled over for driving around with no muffler and being too loud.

    Under your sink.
You probably mean when you downshift and your rpms skyrocket. Its an automatic right?

    ugh.

my ex did that to his cavalier(he has a second gen z with a v6, so it's a LOT louder). he has successfully melted his bumper from this. fortunately he was smart and just swapped his muffler for a straight pipe...but still...it's...ugh.

i say we leave it-it lets everyone know that they shouldnt take their damn mufflers off w/o being aware of the consequences.
