    Dash peeling - anyone else?

My dash is peeling on the driver side where the dash and the door come together, around the air vent. I've attached a pic to illustrate what I'm talking about. Has anyone else experienced this on their new (!) Corolla yet? This is unacceptable for a new car with only 8,300Km on it.

That's strange. For some reason when your door is closed, the door in coming into contact with the dash and rubbing the finish off. Take it to the dealer. This is covered under warranty, though I'm sure it will cost a bit to fix. Is the door panel properly attached to the door frame?

That is exactly what has happened, you can see the paint has transfered to the door panel. I understand the gap-spacing is very tight (sign of a high-quality interior) however the paint shouldn't tranfer like that. The door panel appears to be affixed correctly, perhaps the door is adjusted too tightly.

This should, of course, be covered under warranty, however the only fix that I could see would be dash replacement. You can imagine I'm not too thrilled about this prospect, considering there are no squeeks or rattles at the moment. I don't see how they could 'paint' it... I wasn't aware it was paint in the first place, I thought it was the pigment of the plastic.

I'm still curious if others have experienced this.

I have about a quarter inch gap between the door trim and the dash when the door is closed. I'm wondering if a couple of your door trim clips are loose.

Don't worry, there's no way they'll replace the dash. Big $$$. You'll be amazed at what interior guys can do.
