    Congrats to me....!

    Just found out today that I passed VA state boards. I'm an RN now!

    It's been a LONG, HARD road, but I've made it.

    Im just kidding, I have great respect for anyone in the medical industry. Did you pass on the first try?

    My wife failed the 1st time.....and got it on the second time for Maryland. We drove out to the testing location, and stayed in a hotel so she could sleep longer, and in the middle of the night the fire alarm went off, and we had to stand out in the cold for 1.5 hours. So she failed that one.

    She started off at in med surge, and now works in labor/delivery and postpartum, and the nursery.

    No wonder she didn't pass the 1st time - I wouldn't have either, with all that - stressful enough as is...and then all that....a reason for everything, I suppose.

    The med-surg. first is a good idea. That's what everyone has preached to me - it's the "all-around" experience any new nurse needs. Props to her for being a LDRP nurse - I HATED it. Studying it was fine, but when it came to actually being in clinicals and applying knowledge to practice...there are just no words to describe... Then again, male nurses in LDRP is kind of one of those taboo areas.

    I work on a rehab / skilled nursing unit now. Truthfully, though, I really think I'd like to work hospice...perhaps later on in life or whenever the opportunity presents itself. The hospital I work at is where I've worked for 2 yrs as a CNA. I had been pulled to work on every floor in that place, but on CHRISTMAS NIGHT, I got pulled to work hospice for 6 hrs for the first time in 1 1/2 yrs there. I loved it. You just kind of do whatever you need to do to make the clients comfortable....it was almost like a breath of fresh air. I could really get on a role about hospice nursing because it is something I am VERY passionate about it. Anyhow...it's the SNU for now and I'm happy. It's a world of possibilities and that suits me fine for the time.

    my gf works at a hospital up north as an lpn now she has worked there since she got her cna so shes worked there a while.. i admire anybody in the health field

    My wife is very fortunate.....the hospital was offering a program to train nurses for labor/delivery, and she was accepted. Most labor/deliver/ped departments dont hire without experience.....its the egg/chicken scenario.....how can you get experience without getting hired, but they dont hire without experience. Most new nurses start off in another department, and years down the road they can get into peds/labor
