    Clutch Replacement

My 01 Rolla hit 90K miles. Questions:

How long does the clutch and CV joints last on a Rolla?

Does anyone know good shop in San Diego for this work?

Is there any reason I should get a performance clutch or short shifter, etc. for everyday spirited driving? If yes what's the cost for this madness?

    Thanks

your stock clutch lasted you 90K miles? wholy cow! mine crapped out at 60K and I plan on doing my next clutch at 120K. If yours lasted you that long there really isn't a need to upgrade. apparently I'm much more spirited then you are.... lol

My clutch had 140k on it when I had it replaced...I bought car car with 113k on it, and I don't think the CV joints have been replaced either. I did have to replace the inner tie rod ends a little before 150k, I think.

A sport clutch is definitely fun..no hesitation to grab. However, it can be jerky until it's broken in -- don't hammer on it for the first thousand miles or so.

I paid $360 w/tax for labor on my clutch/flywheel..the clutch kit was $308 from MWR (I think it has gone up since).

My other car lasted till about 55k. My dad owned an 1986 Corolla that had 140k on the original clutch.

My clutch left the building at 54k :) Which I found to be pretty good considering I drive my car like an NHRA dragster and have 7.5" wide meats. :) Now I'm waiting on my Fidenza Flywheel and ACT XT clutch

    ACT 2600 Clutch Kit Toyota Corolla 6/92-00 1600/1800cc 212mm <-- You're sure that's for the 1zz, right? The 4AFE and 7AFE (93-97) use different clutches than the 98-02, I think..it's a weird year overlap on the site..

hahahaha, the 2600 is complete overkill

you better not be dumping it on a regular basis or say goodbuy to your differential and/or axles

I wanted complete overkill :) After this I'm going to put some work into my suspension then buy one of the stage 4 motors from Money Wrench Racing and boost it. If and when I blow out the axels and differential I'll just replace them with stronger axels and limited slip race differential. I figure I tried getting rid of the corolla and just could not do it because of the time I've put into it and the good times we've had so I might as well throw a crap ton of money at it and make it exactly what I want :) Which is a Pimped out corolla :)

The part # is TC2-XTSS for the clutch/pressure plate. I looked it up and TC2 is for 2000 corolla GTS and 98 - 02 rolla. Hopefully UltraRev doesn't screw up and send me the wrong thing though. That seems to always happen when I order parts :)

I found this and found it kinda useful, so I thought I'd share.

    http://www.advancedclutch.com/downl...tch%20Guide.pdf

I always thought that more pucks = harsher clutch guess i was wrong.

and does anyone know anything about exedy clutches? found one on fleabay for $127 shipped while the act is for 301 shipped. I've heard only good things about acts but haven't heard anything about exedys'. Thanks
