I say that you get what you pay for. $79 for a 1000w sub? There is a reason why companies like JL and MTX charge alot more $ for a lot less wattage. Sure it could handle 1000w, but how do you think it will sound with 1000w running through it? Are you going to drop alot of money on this 1000w amp to power a $79 speaker?

A Hi-end speaker with less wattage will sound better than that speaker... I promise! If you want my opinion, spend the extra $30 for a quality speaker.

polo, dont worry there is surly a company out there that sells a 1kw amp for $79 to match these drivers. :)

if you already have the drivers, well run um and let us know. me I'd take my money elsewhere. me? I'm an adire fan:

a single tempest (, or maby a pair of shivas?) would fit your budget, and is a proven performer.

Im not doubting that you cant get an amp for $79... Im just saying that a cheap amp and a cheap speaker will leave you feeling unsatisfied, thats all.

sorry i guess i should have added more smillies :) :) my comment about the 79 dollar amp was made with toung in cheek. :)

I am a believer in the you get what you pay for in audio, but I also realize there is a rapid curve of diminishing returns. I try to find the happy medium between product performance and cost when possible. the problem is figuring out what your own personal boundarys are for cost and performance.
