    Agreed, and if you do purchase it, it's because your paying for the discs and the shipping which usually runs around $14 bucks or so.

    rex: not all Linux distros have free versions. Lindows, for instance, (though I don't know if the project is still alive) was made as a pay-per-copy type thing...

    One thing you also pay for when you buy it is tech support. You get real paid tech support peoplel if you need a hand.
