DRL module located above brake pedal. Remove module. Cut connecting legs to the board, pins 19 & 20, to kill auto lights. Kill DRL, cut legs 10 and 11, leave board side of 10 open, connect board end of 11 to ground (external switch or to leg 2), connect outgoing 10 and 11 to each other.
Method 2 Kill both DRL and auto lights, cut yellow wire (or leg 8 DRL relay), ground the module end of wire.

forget all that running a switch and e-brake method. i did this to my 04 corolla a year ago and i have been very happy with the results. and it only took me 20min to do. good luck.

It's very simple - my digi SLR is a little too big to fit into the space to take any pictures.
Forget what anyone said about grounding, etc.

Get on your back under the steering wheel.
While you're looking up, to the right of the steering wheel, there is a wiring assembly with a GREEN or RED label (depending on how new/old your car is...) and the label says "Daytime Running Light ASSY" or something to that effect.

Now, from where you are, the closest wires to you on that assembly are two big wires (compared to the other ones in the harness).

The wire you need to cut is a red/white wire (red w/ white stripe).
It is the one closest to the two bigger wires, and closest to the back of the car.
(see image at this link if that confuses you: http://dalenet.com/matrixvibe/Vibe_files/image002.jpg).

All you need to do is take that red/white wire, cut it, and get some electrical tape, close off the ends, and secure them to something - I taped the ends, and then taped each one to the larger wires (with space between them).

Out of the way, and no DRL or Auto-Headlights. Takes 5 minutes, just study the picture and you'll get it easily.

Also, it's suggested you disconnect the negative battery terminal first.
