    Brand name cables, worth it?

What are your thoughts on brand name audio cables like Monster and Stinger cables?

Are they worth the premium over regular wire connections?

Those that have them, did you notice a difference?

I have cheap cables and they work just fine. most audio shops sell cable by the foot but it's a bit expensive. I went to home depot and got about 6 feet of 16 gauge my amp to sub connection and it works perfectly. sound is still just as crisp.. and it cost roughly 1/8 the price of a stereo specific wire.

yea, i dont really think cables become a factor until you start pushing some serious wattage through them...

True. Unless you have a uber kiss-ass system, you wouldn't hear the difference.

    get the cables from http://knukonceptz.com
Many audiophiles will agree they offer the best service, best products and best price. I've done business with them many times and have always been satisfied

Not all cables are created equal.. for example if you buy a el chepo 4AWG amp wire kit from a discount electronic store, it'd end up looking more like a 8AWG cable after you strip away the insulation.. Also if you have done as many installs as I did you'd notice the quality and strand count of the copper in the wires.

I try to always get copper wires, #8 for audio signal and #4 as MINIMUM for powering plants and battery terminals
I still need to upgrade the alternator to battery positive...

Copper wires with as many strands as possible is the best way to go.

i use to have cheap cables... bit i get a lot of electrical noise...

now i use monster cables throughout my whole car... and no more noise...

my rca cable...is about the diameter of a nickel. and 2 lead speaker wires is about the same diameter of a pencil.

i have last years generation... but basically the same thing... the speaker wires now have plastic sleeves on them.

if you want to do it right... make sure you do it right the 1st time... unless you dont mind the whin or electrical noise.

the rca cables is about 100-120 a pop... and speaker cables is 40 bucks for a spool of 25? or was it 50... i dont remember...

well i prolly wouldnt plan on spending alot on wires if youre not gonna spend a good amount on the system the wires are powering....i remember this one kid had some expensive monster cable set but he got his system from a pawn shop....and trust me, the system really did look like it came from a pawn shop too...

I think quality power wires are a waste "welding cable" from any electrical supply seems to work great, on signal cables like preout cables especially, the quality does make a difference but only to the point of the worst component in a system so don't add $150 preout cables to your 79.95 deck, complete waste, cheap components=cheap cables, expensive components=expensive cables
