    Just wondering...

I just cracked my front bumper today driving through the now hardened snow. The roadway is partly cleared as far as where ur tires go but the middle part still has snow that has melted overnight, been ran over and compacted, therefore, resulting in bumper hell. So yea, it cracked the bottom part of my bumper all the way through next to the drivers side fog light. On top of that, im missing a few clips and a screw that hold the bumper in place.
So im just wondering if anyone knows if insurance would cover something like this. I just got the car in August 2005. Its a 2002 Honda Civic LX 4dr. Ive had full coverage with Allstate since ive owned the car. Im gonna call them on Monday but in the meantime, what can you guys tell me...

probably cover it as long as you're willing to pay their new increased rate.

a new bumper off ebay is usually $100 shipped or less so I'd weigh the two options and see what works best financially.

Yup what CB said. Not claiming it with insurance will probably save you money in the long run due to increased rates. Buy a new bumper, have it painted, and put it on yourself. Not that hard to put on a new bumper.

Call your insurance company and find out how much it would go up. Its different for every driver.

If you have full coverage, tell them it was a hit and run, just don't tell them you were driving when you sustained the damage and they won't raise your rates.

Whats your deductible? It may not be worth it going through insurance.

How will he be able to claim a hit and run? An adjuster will take one look at it and see that he is lying, and then he will be charged with insurance fraud. Hit and run on the bottom of the bumper, with no paint transfer?

They like to see police reports about these kinds of things though. They may have a hard time believing a story that will cost them money without some sort of proof.

my uncle reported a hit-and-run for his mitsu suv. i actually scratched the driver side while parking and there was a huge cement pillar support...

anyway, they didn't need a police report or anything (geico).

This was advice from a guy who works at a bodyshop, they pull that kind of stuff all the time.. I think they should know better since they deal with that kind of stuff profesionally. And if it dosen't look like a hit and run now, you can make it look like one.
