Get rid of the conduit and put the wires through the wall. It would be a super easy job to do it, and would look a lot better than the conduit running down the wall.

Actually its not easy to do at all :) When I wired my house for ethernet I discovered that the outside walls are foam filled, I had to use a pointy stick and 2hrs just to bore a hole though it 2 feet off the floor down under the house so I could run the RJ-45 up. I'll never be able to do it for a 9ft run from the bottom of the wall to the top :D

Or get a roto-zip or similar - cut down to just the thickness of the drywall or a bit less and cut a groove from floor to floor. Run your cable and spackle over the groove. Bad part is if you goof and need to take the wire out (broken conductor) - be one hell of job to get it out.

    Foam filled, probably Urethane?

Easy - Cut a series of small holes vertically plumb to the wall, dig out a small cross-section of foam, take a superhot ball bearing and drop it in the uppermost hole and see if it cuts through the next hole (if it get trapped, it won't appear in the next hole (you know roughly that the ball is somewhere between two sets of holes - no joke, instant conduit.

Though this won't work if you have the higher density foam - there it just gets hung up after sinking in a few inches, but still hot enough to cause the foam to soften around it and you end up with a void behind a panel or tends to run in a funky pattern instead of straight down.

If you burn your house down - it not my fault. :D

Invest in an In Focus, and expect to pay more than 400 bucks for it. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you dont want HDTV picture, then the above are fine.

Still, they arent HDTV projectors, and the Optoma isnt able to be mounted on the ceiling. Its a standing unit only.

Click on the link that I posted. The optoma one says HDTV-compatible. Im a n00b to projectors but doesnt that mean its an hdtv projector?

Optoma kicks ass, I say go with the Optoma, also it has a 4000:1 contrast ratio which is double mine.

Good point, if you can't mount on the ceiling it is kind of a pain in the but, But the specs on are it still good. DVD is only 480p, the new HD-DVD will be higher but still 480p looks awesome on 120" from 10 - 15ft away.

compatible just means it can down sample the HDTV feeds to 480p. 480p is still far better then standard television resolution so it's still awesome. I have a 480p projector and its fantastic, you can get a 720p projector but its going to cost twice or three times as much and a 1080p projector is going to be 3+ grand.

BAH we arent lookin to spend more than 1grand so Im guessing that optoma is best bet. Also comes with free 92" screen which we probably wont use so Ill sell it on ebay.

???? Standard televisions are either 480p or 480i, and the difference between the two are very minimal.
The difference from 480p to 720p is great, and the jump from 720p to 1080i/p is fabulous.
Resolution is a major factor in projectors though....youre taking 480 lines and stretching it out to a large screen. If you have a crappy projector, its going to look like crap.
Im setting up a theatre room in my basement, and I havent decided what projector to go with yet.

This Panny is a good one: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11179422&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=

Yeah Pannies kick ass, however your statement on standard television (NTSC) being 480i is wrong, NTSC broadcasts are 352x240 and that is a hell of a lot less resolution then 640x480 which 480p is. And as far as 480p looking like crap stretched out? I lay in a bed 12 feet from my 120" screen and it does not look pixelated even in the slightest. So I don't really know where your comming from, I do agree with you on 720p looking better, I mean its 1280x720 which is awesome. But for the price difference it might not be worth it to some, I'll certainly be getting a 720p panny in the new year but standard DVD movies are only 480p anyways so unless your updating your entire collection to HD-DVD or BLURAY or have a badass expensive hardware video scaler I would think a 480p projector is just fine. Oh, I've seen the AX100U in operation and its freaking amazing, however my friends has a slight convergence problem with the 3 LCD screens, but thats probably pretty common to LCD technology sine they use 3 pannels.

DVD itself is 480p, but an upconverting DVD player will turn it into a HDTV picture.
NTSC has a standard of 525 lines, with each frame using 484 of those lines. (Standard 4:3 format, with a 640 by 480 resolution.)

I didnt say that the 480 was crap....I said that if you have a crappy projector, it will look like crap. (not that 480 would look like crap). Obviously, if you are projecting 720 lines, it will look better than 480 lines.

Yup price difference is what we are talking about here. We dont watch that many movies and all of our current tvs are from the early 90s LMAO. I think any projector would be a huge scale up then what we have now. 480p will do for now. Once blu-ray is more developed then we will see. BTW just to let you guys know we dont own many dvds (probably like 10 max). We will deff be getting a netflix subscription though.

Im not all that excited about the whole HD DVD/Blu Ray thing....DVD players are upconverting to 1080 and they look awesome. I want to see $150 upconverting dvd player next to a $1000 HD DVD player, on the same TV, and we'll see.

There are a few upconverting dvd players on sale on black friday. A zenith one I think that does it to 1080p for like $50 at best buy.

Hey barns I found another for sale at a different store on black friday. I think this one is better. I tried to find out the model number on how they advertised it. I believe it is the EP709 because they said it weighs 4.4 lbs. Let me know how it compares with the DV10 please. I know that this one has more lumens which I asume are better. I dont know if it is HD or not and Im pretty sure it isnt.
