Vacuum routing for the BOV makes a huge difference.

So I used to have my BOV vacuum line coming off my brake booster vacuum via my Golden Eagle vacuum manifold. This means that boost/pressure has to travel through a 3/8" line all the way back to the firewall, then back to the front of the car where the BOV is. Since I have a Celica GT manifold, there's an extra little 1/8" vacuum port just after the throttlebody. I hooked my BOV's vacuum line into that, shortening the run by a good amount. Now when I start to build boost, the line gets pressurized sooner which makes sure the BOV piston stays shut, and when I let off the throttle, it's response time opening is faster. The reason I know this is because my BOV opens easily even if I'm slight vacuum and let off the gas. Also, my boost response just went up; I start building boost at 2300RPMs, am above 5psi at 3000RPMs, and am almost at full boost around 3600RPMs, which is pretty impressive considering I have a .63A/R exhaust housing instead of the usual .48 that people use for quicker spools. I had even tried adjusting the BOV spring to be tighter and wasn't able to get results like this because it would still seem to leak (I would hear a whistle sound above 4 or 5psi). I highly recommend shortening your line as well. Get some 1/8" or 1/4" aluminum tubing (pending on the size of your BOVs vacuum port), drill a hole in your throttlebody just after the butterfly valve, then use some JB weld to secure a short length of the tube in it to make a new vacuum port.

That sounds like a great idea vamp! I'm going to give this a try since my BOV is less then 3 inches from the butterfly valve ;)

Yeah, shorter vacuum hoses = better. Once I was able to make my BOV stop leaking (usually during sudden boost) and still open easily when I let off the gas, it was all good. Can't wait to pop a .48A/R housing on there (one day) and see where the boost corve gets pushed down to.

I think I'm going to take off my intake manifold and run it up to my friends house and weld a few vaccume fittings on to it using his MIG with Aluminum gun. I actually have a spare intake manifold so this will work out great! I'll post pics when I get it done.

Sweet. I definitely want to see the pics when that's done. Did you get your eManage wires fixed? I just finished re-routing my boost controllers vacuum line and shortened it by 2 feet. Woot. Trying to figure out if I can move my boost solenoid around so I can shorten those lines as well.

Nah, still have not wired up the eManage, I keep having crap come up on the weekends. Im going to start gutting the car in another week or so and then I'm going to go nuts in December on the car since I'm taking the whole month off from work to recharge the old batteries :D Oh, my 3 way splitter for the oil pressure sensor came in the mail and my wideband o2 will be here today so atleast I'm getting a parts pile going for when I do tear it down.

Yeah, no kiddng ;) I had to blow a motor and run around on a bad tune all to save myself $300 and it ended up costing me $2400 :D Oh well, live and learn hehe

:D Atleast I didn't give up. You have to admit I've stuck with it though some bad shit. I didn't total my car completely like you did but I did blow a motor, have to build a turbo from pretty much scratch after TSI screwed up and have suffered a lot of down time and tow's, BUT I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP! hehe :D

Either of you two shorten up your lines? Results?

I have not done it yet. I was going to drill out after the throttle butterfly to do my BOV vaccum line but I noticed that I already have two ports on my intake after the butterfly that appear to be for the break booster, etc. I think I'm going to tap off one of these and give it a try. Probably wont be a month or two before I do it because I took the car off the insurance while I give it some much needed TLC.
