I cheated on Toyota on Saturday.

Being the son of a VERY experienced salesman...I figured I'd take some of that knowledge, and go sweet talk a couple of dealership guys into letting me drive one of the new GTO's. I've wanted to drive one since they came out...anyways.

I wander over to the local Pontiac Dealership on Saturday morning and somehow ended up with a salesman who not only graduated from my highschool, but also graduated a year later than me. ...me + younger salesman = time to drive.

The story I told him was I had just sold my '94 300Z project car and was looking for something with an 8 cylinder...and the choices were either the '02 Trans-Am, the '06 GTO or the '06 Mustang. (Not a choice on my book, just a nice addition to make the story more believable)

Somehow I managed to con this guy into letting me run a 3 mile test drive on the 12 lb Magna-Charged 2006 GTO w/ the 6 speed. ...oh...my...god. :D Talk about power. 600 horsepower was a lot of fun.

After that, I figured, well, I'm right across the street from the Ford Dealership, I might as well drive a GT mustang. This guy at the dealership, I had him totally convinced, Dave was his name.

Dave: Well, let me grab the keys to that 2007 GT - California Edition (rims...some graphics, nothing real fancy)

Me: Listen Dave, I've got to be honest with you. I don't think this is going to be a good comparison considering I just drove a SuperCharged GTO about 20 minutes ago.

Before I could get another word out:

Dave: Well, (long dramatic pause) I've got a Roush Stage 3 sitting in the back, typically we don't let people test drive those, but we won't tell anybody. ...I'll drive it out of lot and around the corner and then we'll switch.

So within an hour of each other, I managed to romp a SuperCharged GTO and a Supercharged Mustang.

...I had fun on Saturday.

lol sounded like fun. I saw the new shelby gt 500 on the highway when I was going to pick up my rims. It was a really really old guy driving it with temp plates and he was driving sooo slow. I made it look like he was standing still. It had really wide tires in the back and about regular sized ones in the front. Couldnt see anything else cus I flew by lol.

The GTO for the power, the smooth ride and the tranny.

The Mustang for comfortable interior (a little bit roomier for my height) and the Mustang for exterior styling (Being a Roush and all)

It was a close match-up, but overall, I have to say the GTO.

    vroom-vroom-vroom.

I did find out though there is no 2007 GTO. ...2006 was final production year.

wow, must have been fun driving those things :)

be careful though: the tundra may break up with you over e-mail or even worse via CEL. OBD-II is a rough protocol to receive horrible news over :(
