yet, oklahoma highway patrol, tulsa police and all the satellite city law enforcement agencies all say that those "bluish" tinged bulbs are legal. I dunno, I guess its okay for different states...just like how HIDs are okay here but if u go to california (where they outlawed everything, lol), you cant modify your headlights that drastically....as for my yellow headlight bulbs, only two of the surrounding cities of Tulsa said they will pull me over...good thing I never go through there..Tulsa cops are purdy cool bout it..

And you shouldve asked for an explanation if you dunno why u got ticketed for your insurance because theres no way you can just not kno bout that kinda stuff...either that or theres something ur not telling us bout it..

Sounds to me like he just wanted to screw with ya. However... with that said, the only "bluish" lights that *are* legal here in CO are the clear blue bulbs. they burn clear, look blue. any modification from stock design on exhaust is technically illegal, however its rarely enforced unless a) it sounds like a rattling obnoxious fart can or b) its obvious that you've modified emissions portions of your exhaust. insurance thing, i'd show up to court for that one to contest that. in the 4 yrs i've had a modded rolla, i've never been pulled over for a mod or gotten a ticket for a mod after being pulled over for something else.

list of things i've been pulled over for (all of them)

    1. speeding (four times) (twice when i was 16, twice when i was 26, yay me -- altho, the 26 ones were due to a failed odometer. had no clue how fast i was going, lol was only 10 over though... bastages)

    2. front license plate (twice - no ticket) (its just a pc pull anyway, they cant really issue tickets for that, they're considered 'wasteful' to do so, lol)

    3. expired tags (once) (just one day after i returned from VA after getting my turbo done, asshole)

    4. radar detector (once) (go VA!)

    5. wandering a lane (once) (was testing the pull on my out of aligned car, hehe cop thought i was wasted... hehe oh well, blew a 0.000, so gay)

not all cops are assholes... its just unfortunate that they do still give badges to assholes. i know plenty of cops who are really good guys and don't mess with you. hell state patrol here sitting on hwy 287 will radar people all day long doing 70 mph and won't budge ... its 55 mph through there but its also a 4 lane highway and its hard to understand why its 55 anyway... now, those same guys will bust your chops if you whip through one of the towns the highway goes through at those speeds. all the same many cops are just trying to do their jobs, its the unfortunate fact there are a few assholes out there that make it their personal mission to screw with people.

Depends on how "blue" they are. If you can prove and show to the judge via photos and video that they have a blue tint due to running HID lights, and they are LEGAL in your area, you can get out of the ticket.

On the other hand, if you're running "cosmetic" blue lights, then you're shit-out-of-luck. Forward mounted blue and red lights that are too similar to a cop or ambulance are illegal in most areas. IF the officer is a real asshole he could've written you up for impersonating an emergency vehicle.

MY story where I could've gotten a BIG ticket is when I passed a dump truck on the right (in the dirt) who had an uncovered load that was spewing sand and small gravel all over everyone behind him. I blasted by in the dirt and a cop saw me do it. I just cursed under my breath and immediately pulled over. We talked, and I got out of some BIG tickets.

Sadly, for the most part (and from personal experiences) most of the police around here are truly and without a doubt assholes. I was getting ready to make a left hand turn on a green light, when I paused for just a moment after my Mom (who was riding with me) said to stop for a second. Thank god I did, because an officer with nothing on or running blew through the intersection going about 70MPH. That accident would've killed my Mom, and likely myself.

I even had one officer force me off of the road while going up a hill, and in the process of getting over almost lost control of the S-10 I was driving at the time.

Yeah cops are fuck tards. I got rear ended by an uninsurred motorist so I called the cops to the scene and they gave the guy that rear ended me a ticket and cut him loose then said they wouldn't take a report because the damage appeared to be less then $2500 and then decided to give me a ticket for uninsurred motorist also because the insurance card I haded the cop was expired by 2 days. I then pulled out my smartphone and logged in to AllState and showed the officer my account and standing and my agent, actually more info then what was on the card and he refused to accept it. So I had to waste my time and $25 fee to get the court house to drop it. Fucking assholes. But beware, Eric loves cops so he is going to rip on you and anyone else that bad mouths law enforcement, just hold your ground hehe :D

PS: Eric, if you reading this. I love you man!! Hahah :p

I dont love cops....but I respect cops. I dont find every little thing to use against them and claim that all of them are assholes. I have TONS of friends that are cops, and know what an officer goes through on a day to day basis.

To say that all cops are assholes because you ran into an asshole cop would be no better than saying all Latinos smell because the one you just walked past smelled. Right?

What should they have done with the other guy? Arrest him? No.
You didnt have your insurance card on you....whos fault is that?
Not sure about your state, but in MD, unless there are INJURIES, a police report is not written. If an officer is called to a scene of an accident, they make sure info is exchanged. No police report.

It would be one thing if you all were bad mouthing them for a legitimate reason. There have been some negative threads about cops on this board that I have agreed with. But I have found no worthwhile arguments against cops in this thread. When someone has something worthile to say against cops instead of just the stereotypical replies about cops in general, Ill acknowledge it. :)

The problem with the world today is that people dont want to take responsibility for THEIR ACTIONS. Instead, they want to blame it on others. THey want to blame not research the laws on products that are installed on their cars.....they want to blame the cops for them forgetting to put their new insurance card in their car.......its ridiculous.

Jerry, you knew Id reply :)

Yeah I knew you would reply, I baited you just a lil' bit hehehe ;) I suppose I can respect some COPS since I too have a friend or two that wear the blue. But damn, it seems like more often then not they are on a power trip. Just my opinion...

I do agree with some of what you said above but the honest truth is I may have had an expired insurance card but I still had proof of insurance with me (on my phone) and he would not acknowledge it. Also if I did not have insurance why on earth would I have called him to the scene always? Common sense points to the officer just being a dick weed. When a cop pulls me over I give them nothing but respect and even in this case I gave the officer nothing but respect but he still chose to abuse his power for his own personal gain instead of enforcing the law and helping citizens in distress which is not honorable at all. So that is why the stereotypes seem to be more true then false from my perspective. I think it’s cool that you have had enough good dealings with cops (probably because of your friend) that you can openly respect them and what they do. But I'm not quite their yet, probably doesn't help that the friend of mine that is a cop once raided a teen party when I was cruizing around with him only to confiscate there keg and take it home with him. He didn't even call it in, I wonder how often stuff like that happens.... hmmmm...

I respect my local cops as much as they respect me. Respect is NEVER automatic for me, you've got to earn it. I don't respect you unless I know you, but I'll be respectful.

My Mom was backed into by a local firefighter. It was obvious by looking at the damage she was not at fault, but because he lied and said both parties were backing up she (her insurance) still had to pay for half of the repairs. The firefighter had to pay for the other half.

I've also met quite a few paramedics over the past eight months (I've had some health problems) who've been for the most part awesome. There've been a few jerks, but none of them were like the firefighter/paramedic who hit my Mom.

Y'all have to realize that being a cop is one of the hardest jobs in the world. They typically deal with the lowest of the low and have to be aggressive at times to deal with them. When pulling over someone, they have NO idea what they'll be facing or what their dealing with. When I got pulled over, I kept my hands in view and only got out my information when the officer asked for it. I replied with "yes, sir" and "no, sir" and was very respectful. He saw a case under my center console and asked what it was. I told him the truth in that it was my CD case and even offered to open it up to confirm that. By staying cooperative and respectful, I got out of the ticket.

But, right after passing the dump truck on the right, I was going up the road and something hit my windshield chipping it. Damnit.

That day was a terrible day.

How did he abuse his power??

What did he gain from it?

He WAS enforcing the law. The law states that you have to carry your insurance info with ya....you werent. He was enforcing that law.

    You were in distress?

I can openly respect them because I know what they go through every single day. Ive had many run in with cops, especially when I was a teen, and I never had any problems.

You were cruising around with him while he was on duty? Was it an official ride along? One corrupt cop doesnt mean they are all corrupt.

were you in daly shitty? cops are pricks over there.. you have to get signed off and pay the fix-it for the lights, show the insurence papers to the clerk and either go back to stock muffler and get it signed off or go to a CHP station and get your exhaust dB tested.
