    Best tire brand and why?

Which brands do you like best and why?

I have yokohamas now but I've been doing some shopping, trying to see who's had the best experiences.

Ive had a good experience with my Kumhos. Kumhos are good for normal day to day driving plus cheap. Been on car since 01 and 31k miles. They are still pretty good. I did the penny test. More than half the head is covered.

The BFG Traction T/As I have work well in dry and wet, but they wear down fast.

Firebird had Goodyear All-Season "Performance." Both sets wore nicely (barring any no-posi burn-outs...:D )

I gotta throw in on the Kumho's too. I've put around 30,000 on them and they've been phenomenal. Anyone have (or had) Yokohama Parada Spec 2's? I'm looking at getting those next spring.

i got BFG Traction T/A not the one that came stock w/ the mustangs... its the high performance V rated ones... it grips like a muthaf-ckas and it makes sh!tty stock handling cars, handles like its on rails... plus they pump out sh!t loads of water in the rain... but they are pricey from Costco...

    Ill never buy Kumhos again.

Who here has had more than 1 brand of tire on their cars. Many will think what they are running is great, but when they get something better, theyll realize that their last set sucked.

Im happy with my Falken 512s.....the Avids were ok in my opinion

Sets through my Corolla so far (133K miles:(

    - (14") OEM Goodyear Integrity GL tires - SUCK (off in less than 10K miles)
    - (16") Yokohama AVS ES100 - Good tire, but wore really fast, got about 10K
    - (16") Kuhmo ECSTA Supra 712 - Good tire, but not as good as the Yokos, got about 30K
    - (16") Toyo Proxes 4 - Good tire, but wore really fast for me (UTQG), got about 25K
    - (14") BF Goodrich Traction T/A H - Good tire, little noisy, got about 30K
    - (14") Yokohama AVID H4S H - Good tire, about the same as the BFG but softer sidewall, still got plenty of tread left.

If I had to choose any street tires and price was no object. Advan Neovas. 2nd choices would be Azenis and BFG KD/KDW.

Anyone use or used Kumho ASX's? Ive heard lots of good things, so they'll probably end up going on the Solara. (Which has some complete trash Cooper Trendsetters right now)

Dunlop SP20 FE's were probably the worst tires ive ever used. Wore like hell in less than 20K miles. Flat out scary rain traction...... snow, haha I may as well have been on summer tires.

I'm pretty happy with the Falken 512's I have now, aside from the sidewall flex. I should have gotten something more sticky. For the money though, they are good. I wouldnt use them on a sportscar though, due to the sloppy sidewalls.

    you mean G009?

From my experience all lower end Kumhos sucks. The Ecsta MX is pretty good and the V700/V710 are nice race compound tires.

I'm on my 2nd set of Spec 2s. The performance is off the charts!! The wet traction is fine. Also, I've drove about 35,000 miles on the first set. Another great feature is the strong sidewalls. It helps with handling and after hitting so many bad roads my rims are still true. Don't get Falken Ziez 512s. They squirm all day and the handling is a nightmare. After 10,000 miles with them the treadwear was still good but I couldn't take the scary poor handling.
