    Windows Vista RC1

I really love Windows Vista RC1 and think its a huge step forward from Beta2 and I actually have lost all desires to run XP as a result. I was pretty suprised to see that a site that is well know for hating on Vista turned its review around for RC1 claiming its a fantastic step forward.

Now if only the Stock Price would go up so I could make some money! :D

Hahahaha :) Its awesome. Wow so trav actually already said tihs? Did he post something? Because I thought Trav didn't like Vista at all so hearing him say something positive about it would be sweet hehe :D

Wow, I just checked ATI and they already have there driver package out with control panel for Vista RC1. Nice! I'm going to download 3DMark2006 and determine how much faster ATI's driver is over the inbox Microsoft one.

Okay the numbers are in for ATI's new Catalyst Vista RC1 drivers.

Looks like ATI's RC1 driver is a fair amount faster.

I just don't see the new features as worth the $350 price I think I read about. but for somebody at the M$ store.. *cough*barnacules*cough*.. $45 is nothin :)

heh... dude... im runnin it right now... omg. night and day improvement over the last release

btw... 5536 is pre-rc1 it isn't the actual RC1 release. if i know MS build procedures (which i was directly involved with on the 2k project) there's still a few builds before they call it RC1 - this was just an interim release

I'm not sure hacking the hive file is going to get you sku leaping capabilities as easily as in WinXP and 2K3 :D But we'll see.

I'm going to ask a question in hopes of not being flamed... I downloaded the RC1 (or atleast it was called that) and was wondering if I was going to have to do a fresh install when the actual product gets released?

Upgrade from RC1 should be supported.

should being the operative word... my beta 2 to pre-rc1 upgrade didn't do so great... luckily there are failsafes in place now but on the second reboot it just hung, didnt do anything... kinda sucked but oh well... as i said due to failsafe, you can boot back into your old vista (as it doesnt complete the changeover until the very end of the upgrade) and copied all my crap out before doing a fresh install... hehe man i do not miss setup testing... ROFL

Hahahaha, well the code churn from RC1 to RTM will not be nearly as intense as from Beta2 to RC1 so the upgrade should be much nicer. Also Microsoft realizes that a lot of people will be running RC1 and I beleive they will take measure to ensure the upgrade will be successful where possible. I guess well just have to wait and see :D
