    Engine acted up

I have an 01 corolla s .. i have the el prototype cai with the aem bypass valve installed. (just for reference sake)

anyway, today at a stop light, idling... the car engine started to act weird. the rpm started fluctuating really really low in the tach. i would say about 400-300 rpm range. but it only did it for about a few seconds or so.

is this a symptom for a bigger problem?

eh mine does that all the time... its the idle speed sensor going weird and sticking, nothing to worry too much about... mainly you'll need to start worring when your engine actually starts to stall. as long as you arn't throwing a CEL from it it should be fine

Man samething happened to me and I was going nuts lol. People suggested cleaning the MAF. Helped out a little bit and Ive never experienced "spuddering" ever since. It "suppered" on me twice and I was about to go mad crazy.

phew. well i recently installed the bypass for the CAI because it rains A LOT and there are a lot of the highway puddles on the left/right lanes up where my school is at (binghamton) and i thought maybe the lower end of the cai pipe disconnected or something and the engine wasnt getting the air it needs.

hehe if the lower end of the pipe had disconnected then there would actually be more air getting in albe it slightly... (no restriction from the filter... :)

i checked it and its still connected..

i dont know if its bad or not but the bypass was installed closer to the top end of the pipe

but the only bad thing i can think of is that it makes it hard for the bypass to hold a big piece of the pipe...

did you install the bypass before or after your maf?? or map which ever you have... because if you installed it after (in flow line) then that might be your problem... engine is getting more air than it thinks, maf senses X-amount of air, actual air input is greater because of air comming through the bypass valve, heargo studder at idle..
