negative... these are two of those parts you cannot get for cheap and if you do, you'll be very sorry. typical cost of a good waste gate is going to be around 200-250 depending on what you get. a BOV is around 200-250 as well... these are two very critical parts of your turbo setup as they are both responsible for pressure control. don't shortchange these.

check out honda-tech for good deals on wg and bov. I recommend going with a Tial wg than anything else. As for BOV most people (including spoolin performance) say the knockoff greddy type-s and HKS ssqv works just as well as the real ones.

    What's the difference between a By-pass valve and a Blow-off valve?

Also, what spring pressure should I choose on a wastegate?
    -- 0.25 bar (3.63 psi)
    -- 0.4 bar (5.80 psi)
    -- 0.5 bar (7.25 psi)
    -- 0.6 bar (8.70 psi)
    -- 0.7 bar (10.15 psi)
    -- 0.8 bar (11.60 psi)
    -- .9 bar (13.05 psi)
    -- 1.0 bar (14.5 psi)

BTW, I got the turbo in the mail today. I'll post pics later of what I got.

I don't want to sound negative here man, but before you install all this stuff, I'd highly reccommend you do some research on what all these parts do. :)

    Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the advice. I did some research already. The reason I'm asking these questions is to get other's opinion. Also to reinforce the knowledge I have gained thru my research, little it may be.
I'm at the stage right now that I'm buying parts little by little. I do not anticipate this project to be done soon. Early next year maybe.

Once I think I have all the parts I need, I will do more research on how to install them. Or maybe have somebody that know install them for me.

Here's a sketch I made. See what you guys think.

BTW, it should be MAF not MAP (thanks Travis). I have a 02 corolla.

Here is the pic of what parts I already have.

    1. Turbo (T3)
    2. 440cc injectors
    3. Downpipe connector
    4. Oil feed connector
    5. Oil drain flange and pipe
    6. Oil pan return fitting
    7. Log manifold

Next to buy is the BOV & Wastegate.

As far as BOV / Wastegates go, stick with quality stuff. Anything from Tial. You don't want to skimp on a wastegates. When picking a wastegate spring, remember you can always get a spring to run conservative boost, and then swap it out for a stiffer spring later once you have supporting mods. I doubt you'd want to run a 1.0 bar spring on an otherwise stock 1ZZ.

Im not sure why you're asking about BOV's / Wastegates right now, since your current list of parts looks pretty incomplete.

You still need. Shit I know im missing things on this list.

    Intercooler, IC piping, couplers
EMS - Emanage, AEM, S-AFC etc.
    Turbo Timer
Boost Guage, Oil Pressure & Oil temp guages
Tranny Temp guage (if you're auto)
    Trans cooler (if auto)
    Oil lines
Check the welds on that manifold (get it P&P'd if needed)

Thanks for the info. I'm buying parts little by little every payday. After I buy the BOV & wastegate, I'm gonna start looking for an IC & piping.

    BOV purchased from JTweezy. Thanks

I'm currently bidding on a tial f38 wg on ebay. I will be putting in 0.4bar spring in it if ever I win the auction.

BTW, I bought cams and S-AFC from IkonXone.

    I'm slowly getting there.

lol.....must have copied and pasted too much....

Kud, well I received notice from paypal that I cant accept your money without upgrading to a premium account.... I think they are doing this because I've sold about $2000 of stuff which was mainly my turbokit....so I'm guessing you would have to do a check or try bank transfer...

oh yeah I also have my IC pipes and intercooler.....all aluminum and custom tube and fin intercooler... willing to let everything go for $125 shipped...I'll take some pics sometime this week.

I'm interested. Yea, post pics. So is it $40 for BOV and $125 for IC & piping OR $125 for both BOV & IC+piping?

Gotta pay to play Mike. How much power are you putting down now?

Oh and yeah, I wasn't even thinking when I said get a Tial BOV. Ive been on Supraforums too much lately, and of course they're running huge turbos and massive amounts of boost. Much different than a Corolla with a T3.

For the original poster. Did you pick up any new parts lately?

    Update.

Just an update. Here are the parts I have on hand.

    1. Turbo (T3)
    2. 440cc injectors
    3. Downpipe connector
    4. Oil feed connector
    5. Oil drain flange and pipe
    6. Oil pan return fitting
    7. Log manifold
    8. Greddy Emanage & support tool ( tks sean2sean)
    9. APEXi BOV (tks jtweezy)
    10. IC & piping (tks jtweezy)
    11. Walbro 255lph fuel pump (tks jtweezy)

I am currently working on getting the ff:

    1. AT cooler
    2. Tial 38mm wastegate

    Things I still need:

    1. Greddy turbo timer
    2. oil filter adapter plate (to connect oil feed to turbo and oil pressure gauge)
    3. Boost, EGT, oil pres, AT temp, and fuel pressure gauge

Please help me out if I am missing something.

Here's what I use for my oil pressure and turbo oil line feed.

What are you planning to use for a boost controller? If you get an electronic one, it'll usually double as a boost gauge. Check the 1ZZ owners thread and you can see a list of what I have on my setup.

Thanks Vamp. That's a lot cheaper than getting a oil filter plate. I don't plan to use any boost controller for the meantime. Maybe later on.

    Thanks again.

So you're just relying on the wastegate spring? You should get a manual boost controller at least then. Even if a wastegate spring says 7psi, it will start opening around 2 or 3 psi, making your boost curve drop.

Yea I will be relying on the WG spring but since you mentioned that it might drop boost curve, I'll take ur advice on getting a manual boost controller.
