    Question about Scion tC's

Well I'm getting my S/C Scion tC friday and there's some questions I have:

What is the approximate gain with this S/C?

In what ways could I add more power safely?

    Could I add a BOV?

No blow-off valve on a supercharger. Supercharger's are more efficient than turbo's in the sense that the amount of boost that is built, is strongly based on the pulley...which is run off the rest of your accessories drive-belt. So there really is no excess pressure to relieve which you would out of a turbo.

Supercharger's are efficient, but you sacrifice a little power, to make a little more power. I'd highly suggest a strong under-drive pulley for it if you want to make some more power. I had a supercharged GTP Grand Prix with a short pulley ROAST my firebird like I was driving a Vespa.

An S/C tC? You Dick! lol I'm so jealous. For real though, That's awesome. I so wanted to go that route last year but I couldn't get em to give me enough for my Corolla, so I s/c'd it instead. lolYou had BETTER provide an assload of pictures along with videos. I wanna hear how loud this sc's whine is. :)

I wonder how much torque the s/c gives the tC? Do you know? I heard the hp is just over 200.
Also, seeing as this is a centrifugal s/c, can it be intercooled?

You know I'm not sure man but I'm trying to find out what kinda upgrades I can get that could put me at around 250whp :). It sucks I can't add a BOV cause I love the sound but oh well the car runs strong and well the S/C isn't loud at all when I drove it yesterday. Car has like 500 miles so gotta break it in first before I do anything. I'll post pics of the car along with the bike friday and stuff.

oh for sure dude I'll have my buddy drive it up cause I want to drive the bike hehehe, what's ur input on parts for the S/C dude since you are the all knowing master of the universe (lol) :)

Cool I will be up there with both rides, hopefully they'll call me early in the morning telling me they got it ready for me and I'll go home snap a few shots, have my mom yell at me for a few minutes and then figure that there is nothing she can do about it :) and then roll up there lol

What do you make of this one:

I wonder if it really works and that won't mess anything up though, I also found a BOV for it that's kind of a bypass valve or something like that for the tC S/C, I hope that works too cause I want the pshhh sound :D

Expect around 220whp with the TRD supercharger and the ZPI 9lb pulley. But if you want more power, there are alot of turboed tC's running around with 300+ whp!

if I can get 250whp + on the S/C I'd go with that cause I don't have money to put a turbo in it plus it voids warranty while the S/C doesn't :)

If you want better figures, go to www.clubsciontc.com or scionlife.com and search the forums. Everyone is saying the S/C will only give you 40hp more. With a turbo setup, you can go more then that. But then again, you'd have to make the decision whether or not you want to void the warrenty should an issue arise.

But dont' take my word for it, read the forums and you shall find out alot more. Good Luck!

Whoever told you that or wherever you read that, its not true. There are tC's out there that are 500hp or more, but thats with major modifications and they use a turbo, not a S/C. And these cars are company sponsored. The most you'll get from a S/C is about 200 to 210hp. with other mods, the number can change slightly but not 500.

If I'm wrong..someone correct me then.....

i believe its being installed prior to delivery of the vehicle. which is why he had to wait a week or so. (just my guess)

the advertised gain is to 200 hp and that is not whp. you can intercool and add a bov on the supercharger for the tC since it is a centrifugal s/c. sure other people are making more power, but reliablity and carb has been a problem. the s/c is the way to go right now until people can get some years of testing down.

it's an option that you can add.

you can allways lift a Tc and add 32 inch wheels and make a 4wd out of that lol

I thought that a bov on a supercharger, whether is be roots or centrifugal would be useless seeing as its pulley driven not exhaust driven. A post further up I think talks about why.

Yeah that's 200ish at the crank, no numbers on torque?

True but some guys are making an assload more power with the ZPI Racing turbo kits. (More than twice that to the wheels)

a BOV on a S/C makes absolutely no sense to me:confused:
And SC's will always be less efficient than turbos, since the former has parasitic loss from being belt-driven.

how efficient is a turbo in low RPM? zero because it works off of exhaust gasses at high RPM. different technologies. efficient overall, maybe, because it works off energy that would normally be unused. superchargers are efficient throughout the powerband, even if they are overall less efficient.
