    Help removing axle from tranny.

My axle dont seem to want to budge from the tranny. Any tips on pulling it? I already got it off the hub.. driver side wouldn't come out.. passenger side became two pieces after my friend yanked it. And still part of it is attached to the tranny.

you're supposed to use a pry bar/large screwdriver and a hammer. there are two ways to go about it...

    1) there are notches on the knuckle housing that is just outside the tranny, you can hit this outward and it should unlock it from the tranny or

    2) wedge between the knuckle housing and the transmission case and pry it out --- typically one good hit with the hammer will knock it out of its lock.

these are the two methods toyota uses when replacing them... got a chance to watch them replace a trans seal on my car once... i thought i was fast with axles switching (25 minute record start to finish) the guy i watched did it in 15.

My friend was able to get it out easily with a prybar.. somehow. Unfortunitely the metal seal where the passenger axle meets the tranny were bent pretty bad. Toyota wants $27 to replace and dont have it instock. we ended hammering it back straight.. hopefully it works.
