    1zzfe capabilities......

This is for you engine guru's I dont know much on it so i'd thought i'd ask. If you were to up grade the internals of a 1zzfe, what do you think the max horse power would be with a turbo? Also how much boost do you think you wuld be able to run? Im thinking about doing this later on and just wonder if its even worth it?

with upgraded internals I'd guess you could run up to 18psi .. stable tune would probably give you 260HP, course the tranny would promptly blow up

I talked to MWR about the max capabilities of the 1zzfe. They said the max would be around 400hp N/A.

    N/A? Wow...

Highest I've seen a 2-UZFE (4.7L iForce) with an obscene amount of boost was 800 horse and just shy of 900 lbs of torque. ...he grenaded the thing within about a week upon reaching that level...blew ALL the rods...pretty cool pictures. :D

you talk like you have built an engine before......have you????? So is Monkeywrench a business that is full of shit now??? or what??? I've talked to Monkeywrench before too, they know what they are doing and its just that it takes money to reach high HP...

A 1.8l could be built to handle 400whp, even more so. You wouldn't be able to drive it like you do with 130hp dumping the clutch like crazy and bouncing on the rev limiter like a rally car. With great power comes great responsibility . Basically when you put your car in 2nd gear and rev to redline and dump your clutch you are putting more shock force on your crank and engine internals then you would sustaining 400whp in a straight line for a small burst. As long as your crank is pumped up and your rods and pistons are bulletproof and your tune is good (detonation will put a lot more then 400hp worth of force on your crank :D) then I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. I even remember seeing a 600hp Civic on Pinks one night. the guys turbo took like 4 seconds to spool before take off :D Anyways just thought I would share my perspective.

    I agree with hookedup96rolla - 400 WHP on a N/A 1ZZ-FE is a bit of a stretch.

Getting 400WHP in a nitrous or turbo application on a built 1ZZ-FE - is totally believable. For the N/A application - the amount of air/fuel required to make that much, is more than what the engine can pull in at standard temp/pressure. Even bored to 2.4L - engine will have to spin to ~12K -15K RPMs to pull enough air in - that is assuming 100% VE as well. Have to pressurize the intake charge in order to make it that high.

This doesn't mean you can't make a 4 banger with 400+ WHP in a N/A setup - but that is far from what you can do with a 1ZZ-FE as your starting point.
