Next time you jack up your car...

Next time you jack up your car and after bringing it down, make sure you remove the rocks/wood/whatever that you put behind the wheels to keep the car from rolling down the driveway. Today I changed the oil, with an OEM filter and Mobil1 full synthetic of course ;), and I was gonna take it out for a spin like I normally do. Put car in reverse and wouldnt budge so I give it some gas and wouldnt budge and Im like WTF??? I get out of car and notice the rocks are still there lol. OOPS :p

try changing the oil in a tundra dude you have to remove the skid plates and takes like 40 min to remove . I have my oil changed at the dealership yet I might think about doing it now since the price is like $34 now vs $20..

Costs me $25 for Mobil1 and OEM filter. I usually have some left over oil which I just keep around. After a few changes on all the cars, I can use all the left over and just put in a new filter.

Eh its not that hard when you got 3 floor jacks (the ones with the handle you pump it up) laying around. Stick two on both sides and your good to go. Even one would do. Takes me around 20 min to do oil change. That is faster than the quickie places that Ill never go to again in my life. They say 20 min but they have you waiting for an hour before they even take your car in. Pfff at least I know I did it right.

nice part is the trd kit is just the right size for my 4 ton rolling jack, it clears the kit by 1cm using the stock lift points, no wood blocks needed :D

Before I lowered my car, I just drove up a pair of ramps to get underneath. The front bumper is low so it pushes the ramps before the tires get on. Now I just use a floor jack, which just clears the bumper. Changes are only $15, I see no point in running full synthetic in the Corolla.

Why cant I use synthetic? Because its a slow corolla? I dont use synthetic for performance, I use it because its just better. I can go double the mileage before an oil change (which I dont so eh :p).I have seen no problem with synthetic thus far and my oil stays very clean even when its time for a change.

if you run the sh*t out of your car or take it to the circuit then synthetic helps. b4 synthetic i had to change the oil every time i went cuz it would get so dirty and burn off after running it at redline all day.

??? An engine is an engine. Metal parts rubbing against metal parts....synthetic can benefit any engine.

Now running 93 octane in a corolla is 100% pointless.

hey I resent that I'm a manager at a quicky place.. well a dealership quick lube, and we have your car out of our bay 15 minutes after it comes in... unless we are backed up.. then the wait is never more than a half hour. and if its more than that we do it in the parking lot... and its free...

Then you got some good service there :thumb:. The place I go to, Firestone, says it will be done in 20 min. 45 min later I still see my car untouched sitting in their lot. I go up to the guy and he said that it will take another 5 more min. Waiting another 15 min I finally see them pull my car in. If they can do it right then I got nothing against it but Im never going to a quickie place ever again.

I don't race the crap out of my engine, so I don't bother paying 4 or 5 bucks a quart for oil. In my individual position, there is no point.

I've been told that unless you switch to synthetic early in the car's life it doesn't make much difference. Anyone knowledgeable on the subject?

I dont think it has anything to do with whether or not you "race the crap out of your engine".

When using synthetic, oil consumption is REDUCED. Also better sealing characteristics between piston rings and cylinder walls will occur.

Also, using dino oil can lead to sludge issues. The increased heat within the engine can heat up the oil, even to the point of boiling your oil, thus sludging up your system without you even knowing it. This will lead to junked up system, restricted oil flow, lowered fuel economy, and decreased engine performance.

Synthetic oil also reduced friction among all of your moving metal engine parts. In addition, your engine parts remain coated even after shutdown.

    Just some thoughts.

And that may be true......but lets analyze why this would be true, if it is. Could it be that using regular oil since the first use of your engine has already done damage to your engine parts? (All metal parts, in addition to all of your seals?) Which would prove my point.

I personally think it would benefit your engine.......it will prevent sludge issues from worsening, and protect your engine in the future
