easiest is another 1ZZ-FE, you could also swap in a a 2ZZ-GE (Dr. Tweak did this for HellishMantis' Corolla)...

They got extremely lucky finding an XRS. Those are hard to find in salvageable condition. Look out for celica engines, I hear they can drop in as well, Pete had one I think???? Unsure though.

It overheats, it has valvve noise, it gets beat by every stock civic out here it misses, it backfires, it idles rough, blows radiator hoses, has a bolt broke off in the head, not fast enough for me, makes me feel like a dumb ass everytime I replace something it breaks it. im tires of it!!!!!! I need a low mileage engine, I will put any engine in it yall recommend or is resonable

*ADD* engine light always comes on *ADD*

Sounds quite alot of issues, how much mileage is on the engine?

Budget wise, putting in a low mileage 1ZZ-FE is the way to go, performance wise, swapping in the 2ZZ-GE with the 6 speed manual is definitely the way to go (but iwll cost quite a bit more).

Toyota is notorious for valve/lifter ticker, my 2003 Tundra did it 3 days after I bought it.

It's a stock 1.8L 4-cylinder...it's not a 7.0L Corvette engine...if you are tired of getting beat by Civics...simple...stop racing. WITHOUT getting into the street racing argument..street racing is hard on motors, drive-trains and your car in general.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here...but do you the required maintance on your car?
For the over-heating, did you check your fluid levels, and if they were fine did you check your thermostat?

Some of the things you describe say to me that you are being WAAAAYYY too hard on your car...if your motor has this many problems, it makes me wonder about the rest of your car...IE: what's left of your suspension?

deebs you are right about being hard on my car I like to take off fast. but I do my regular maintainace, all is good tho. my interior is trashed (need seats) and my springs have been heated because I wanted to see my car lowered because I was getting lowering springs a day afterwards and the seller backed out ( typical ebay) but im fixing it right now

    I have new kyb gr-2s

hehe Deebs... you crack me up.

realistically if you keep up with all your maintenance, ie fluids and such and keep a close eye on the rest of everything else in your car it doesnt really matter how hard you drive it. I mean look at mine... lol I drive that thing like I stole it 85% of the time and it's pretty damn happy. (now that i've fixed those damn exhaust leaks, lol)
